2025 Draft Crush Thread

What do you think of Sai’vion Jones?

You like him because he played basketball and has talent. Am i wrong? He doesn’t have the grit for us in my opinion. Maybe he does and I dont personally know him? Well, i dont personally know know him. But im not seeing it. Maybe he has a good combine? Good for him. I still dont think he is a gritty, Lion.

And all these mocks with Jack Sawyer? Not happening.

Actually, maybe its best i do not talk? I saw something and then its like…why did i talk this guy up…? Now, the whole media blows up…

We will see what happens.

I would like JTT at 60 I think he can help us. I’m not to interested in him at 28. Don’t love the value there. I’d be okay with Sawyer at 60 as well but I prefer JTT.

He’s a tricky one to figure out. I wanted to love him because he checks so many of our boxes, but man basically all of his production comes when he shifts inside. And he’s not big enough to hold up in there regularly (well he would be if he was preternaturally strong against the run, but he’s not… he gets washed out inside). But he’s really just not a good enough athlete to play on the edge. Pretty much solely an edge setter, and I’d like a little more out of the spot personally.

I think Sai’vion may have some upside and be better playing on Sundays. I think Brad will like him a lot more than some of the 240 lb edge rushers. He is one of the few I can see us getting in round 3. After his senior bowl week he may not be there when we pick in round 3. Where do you project him being drafted?

I think he should still be around in round 3 as I don’t expect him to test very well. And I agree, he’s gonna be more our type than the 240 pounders. For us those guys are SAM LBs, and that comes with the requirement of being pretty good at the LB-y aspects of the position, which most are not (which is why Barnes is underrated too, hard to find players like that).

That said we may be looking for a new SAM if AG is coming after Barnes as the rumors state, so some of those 240 pound guys might be on our board. We’d have to do a deep dive on how many can actually hold up at LB. Most haven’t even tried, and some who have (Jalon Walker, Josaiah Stewart) haven’t looked all that great imo.

Personally, I’d rather take the round or two discount on a guy like Tyler Batty than draft Jones. I’d rather have Jared Ivey straight up, though it looks like he’s going pretty early. Same with JTT and Landon Jackson.

But my favorite guy in that vein who I think will go around the same area as Jones is Elijah Roberts. One of college football’s leaders in pressures, plays with his hair on fire, strong as an ox, had a weird build and probably won’t test crazy which should keep his stock in check, but I really like him.

I like Roberts as well but I think we would have to get him in round 2. I thought the only question I had about Roberts was his length. That seems to have checked out and I could see him mid round 2.

Oh you think he’ll go that high? I figured his middling testing and non-prototypical build would keep his stock in check. He’s not typically the kind of guy who rises through the process unless he tests really well, and based on his tape I don’t see that coming. And right now most of the sims and projections have him as a 3-5th round guy, though admittedly those can be plenty wrong.

Yeah I agree I think the NFL will think more of Roberts game , then draft gurus. The dude plays run and pass well , has a great attitude. And he checked in I believe at 295 and what he has that I think some of the other big ends don’t is Bend . He has a has really good bend for a player of his size.

I have draft with Collins and Roberts 1st & 2nd pics didn’t want to post that one because of the bad grade. Both I think rise before the draft. But I really like them players fit for this team. And would love them there.

I’m pretty sure Collins ends up in the 1st after testing. He’s got the tape + the physical gifts, people are just slow to come around.

I’d still be pretty surprised if Roberts got that high, though maybe if people are looking at him as a 3T he will. He certainly weighs enough, I figured he’d be 275 or so. But usually edge rushers with his lack of juice keep them from rising too much unless they’re like 6’6 with 35 inch arms like Rousseau (and he actually fell after the testing).

So would you hate that combo of Collins Roberts 1&2 ?

I wouldn’t, I really like both guys, but I would hope to get Roberts later. Just value wise. If we didn’t I’d still be pretty happy getting both guys though.

The problem is our 3rd is really a 4th. I almost guarantee Roberts is not available at 101. Watched a interview with this kid Teams will love attitude.

You guys got me to take a peek at interviews and highlights of Elijah Roberts and, yeah, I could see him in a Lions uniform. Getting him at #101 would be sweet.

That dude weighed in at 295 did you see what he looked like ?! Dude had zero fat a was rock solid and then said all the right things in a honest way. Then watch him play he pops.

We’ll know a lot more after the combine but you could be right. He was always gonna check our boxes from an effort and intangibles perspective. I think @CuriousHusker has been on him since his Miami days.

Yeah that who started me on him. Then he popped up on that pressure sheet. The more I dug the More i digged the guy.

Going by the tape I think he’ll run about a 5.0 40 with some pretty below average agility tests (3-cone, shuttle - if he does them), but I think the explosives could be decent. If he surprised with a 40 in like the 4.7s and top 50% agilities, yeah, he’s not gonna last. But if those are his numbers he could.

I really like both of these players.
