2025 Draft Crush Thread

Hey, good point! I think he only did it the one time in high school when his dad jumped his ass, and then never again.

Don’t think so. William wouldn’t have like that.

So I’m adding Ahmed Hassanein to mine. Not because he’s a great prospect or anything - he’s a day 3 guy for a reason - but because he is SO us. There’s just not a chance we’re not gonna love him. I mean, just check out this interview:

And he’s not a bad prospect, excellent pop in his hands, elite motor, good closer with a knack for making plays. He’s just not the greatest physical specimen.

He’s slippery when aligned inside. I actually think that part of his game may translate. He’s Great Value brand Tuli Tuipulotu.

Right, makes lots of plays in there. Which is why I suspect you see him listed as a DL some places despite his size.

I remember seeing when the Lions took Bryant Westbrook and being pretty pumped about that pick.

When I first started paying attention was when we took Claiborne over Jevon Kearse…they had just won the natty and It was so obvious that dude was … wait for it… THE FREAK.

Fast Forward to more recently and I thought Isiaiah Simmons would be a similar type of Freak in the secondary.
No chance did I want Justin Herbert or Okudah. I loved the Swift and Jonah picks though.

My brother in law wanted

I always wanted to draft those bad ass Safeties…after watching Bennie Blades.

I wanted Roy Williams over Joey. Jammer was a close 2nd.

I remember slamming the table for Taylor Mays and Earl Thomas.

The most pissed I ever was when we took Kalimba over Portis.

But at the same time the most happy I was early on was when we took Boss Bailey round 2.

I remember wanting Ian Gold from Michigan.

I can’t remember if I was pissed at Seattle sniping Hutchinson and Shaun Alexander at the time of the draft or if it came after. But I kinda think It was during.

You couldn’t have found a bigger Kevin Jones guy than I was.

I drew the line in the sand for Matty Fire from Athens Georgia when it was Stafford vs Curry vs Jason Smith.

I woulda took Jimmy Smith over Fairley.

I thought Ziggy Ansah was the worst pick ever. Loved Slay and Warford.

I loved Ernie Sims, probably would took Matt Lionheart though.

I remember the jaw drop for Ebron pick. Pretty sure I wanted Taylor Lewan… I didn’t want Aaron Darnold.

You sure it’s that or because you keep making up new handles only to get caught again. Lol

I have a draft crush on Willie Lampkin. I watched this guy and man the only thing you can say about him is that his measurables are not prototypical for an NFL OG. If you base your rating on his play he’s one of the best OGs in the draft IMO. The only reason I think he gets marked down is because they are projecting he won’t be able to play at that size in the NFL. But damn he handled his business in the ACC.

So I’m rooting for him. He just seems like the type the Lions would draft later on and find a way to use him.

I was sure that Chris Claiborne was going to be an absolute superstar.

It’s not that they’re just not-prototypical, they’re as outlier-y as it gets. 5’11, 270? I like him too but think he might have to play some fullback.

Me too. Don’t know how he’ll make it work? Big Fullback seems the most likely I guess. But he’s so fun to watch.

Not sure who you were ?

MM or CP maybe , wrong subject to be Cap

Ok good luck

Well yeah I suppose that is more succicent but I’m saying the same thing really. What they are marking him down for is that height/weight but its not like it has affected his play so far is my point. Its only a projection that it WILL affect his play in the NFL. Which, while I get it, I think they could be wrong. If he can do it in the ACC, I don’t see why he can’t in the pros. And if he can’t, I think it would be fun to see him used as like a fullback or extra blocker. Dan knows how to get the most out of guys.

He can really move and the way he uses leverage…its a really cool story. He’s like Rudy or something but with like… legit talent.

Not as sure as I was about Taylor Mays

If I was able to gamble then, it woulda been max bet Pete Carroll takes Taylor Mays round 1.

He took Earl Thomas…which was obviously the right pick .

He may, but betting on outliers is generally bad business. And thriving in the ACC is great, but it’s not the league by a stretch. He performed much better in the Senior Bowl, but again that was limited to the one-on-ones. In the full team portion his size issues really showed.

The league is just so much of a step up. Tabor thrived in the SEC with his outlier speed, but it didn’t work in the league. People loved Hercules Mata’afa for a lot of the same reasons they love Lampkin, but in the end he was just too small to hold up. Garrett Bradbury dominated in the ACC too, but in the end his outlier size proved to be a pretty fatal flaw. On and on. Yes, there are guys who thrive as outliers (especially at LB, S, etc…) like Ivan Pace, but again, betting on them is usually bad business.

I like Lampkin too and it’s easy to see the leverage advantages. But holding up in the interior as a pass-rusher is asking too much imo (he should be fine in the run game and on the move). Again, though, I’d really like him as a Ricard-style FB. That’s when things get interesting.

I bet this guy gets a lot jokes with that name…

if the Lions draft him, @CuriousHusker won’t sleep for days because he won’t be able to stop thinking of puns. :joy:

We’ll definitely have to rein him in
