2025 Mock Draft Thread

Jack Swayer pick 60 that’s his floor IMO

That is eerily similar to the same thing they said about Chris Spielman when he was drafted.

Is that Hall of Famer from Ohio State drafted 29th overall by the Detroit Lions Chris Spielman you’re talking about ???

It is also eerily similar to what they said about Chase Winovich.

To wit, this is Winovich’s scouting report from nfl.com:

Ok I did a fun draft here

Whoever was the highest rated prospect left I selected them no trade ups or downs just we came up no trade and select

Also sounds a lot like TJ Watt scouting report

Sure, the point is we can go back and forth with you finding examples of that type hitting and me finding examples of them missing. Just being tough, gritty and marginally-athletic doesn’t mean a guy will hit (even if other guys who DID hit shared those traits) and it doesn’t mean they won’t. It’s completely non-correlative to success. I can show you plenty of guys with small hands who hit, that doesn’t mean I think Milroe will hit. I can show you plenty of guys with two last names who hit, that doesn’t mean I think Grey Zabel or Jaxson Dart will hit.

Also did this draft and I kept trading down until there was no trades offered at each pick.

Only 16 new players and 6 new draft picks

Right we can do that with any prospect.

But @Bols and I and others like the kid Jack Sawyer. So we are optimistic and rooting for him.

Sawyer #28
Spielman #29
TJ Watt #30

I hope he’s that type of dude and we take him.

Can’t underestimate the heart of a champion.

They don’t have tests for that at the combine

Jack Sawyer?

Again, just having the heart of a champion isn’t enough. I can show you many, many guys like that who didn’t hit (Winovich, Landon Collins, Hubbard, Peter Boulware, Devin White, etc…). It’s part of the overall picture - perhaps a key one - but A LOT goes into making a great NFL player. Including, more often than not, elite athleticism. THAT is much more telling than play attitude, though of course just like anything there are outliers.

I’d bet my right hand we don’t take him at 28 though. We may like him, but we’ll also know we won’t have to spend that amount of capital on him.

I’d love to have Sawyer on the team too, and our FO will definitely like him. But just like everyone, it has to be at the right price.

Such a good list. There’s always those fringe 1 , round 2 that I love over the years…

TJ Watt, Ogbah, Quinton Groves, Carlos Dunlap, etc

I hope we can trade down and get him like we did Gibbs.

And then use that early 4th to get a guy like Pegasus, Horton, Jones, etc or a 3rd and get Burch or Judkins or Mukuba

And it’s a Gibbs Laporta situation all over again

Yeah I probably want to trade down more this year than any previous year under Brad, I’m really smitten with the mid-2nd through early 5th or so, some really, really excellent prospects in that range. I’d like to add as many picks as possible there.

When I do that, I end up drafting three running backs and four tight ends.

I was sooooo wrong about him. I prolly liked him more than Bolton.

Matt Millen went with only WR’s.

Lots of people missed on him, especially around here :face_with_peeking_eye:

I was a winovich guy
