2026 Blue Jays

Yea I’m kinda surprised cause the Jays have plenty of starters already. But Max was awesome in the clubhouse last year. Basically like another pitching coach who pitches once in a while. And did well in the playoffs.

From the Athletic on top twenty rookies who will make an impact.

7. Trey Yesavage, RHP, Toronto Blue Jays

Yes, Yesavage had a tremendous October, and he has a job going into the season in the Jays’ rotation, which is a major factor in these rankings because it gives him a shot at a full year’s worth of MLB playing time. That said, there are some red flags in his 2025 performance and scouting report that make me more bearish than you might expect if you only knew of him from his major-league time.

He doesn’t actually pitch in the zone that much, relying heavily on hitters chasing his pitches — especially that wipeout splitter — out of the zone, and his fastball and slider were both hit fairly hard in Triple A and the majors. The splitter will miss a lot of bats, and you could see he’s still far from a finished product even in his postseason outings, so I’m optimistic about his long-term outlook. I just wouldn’t put him over some of the position players who also have jobs and are more advanced right now when forecasting 2026 production.

His splitter is nasty but he’s still just a kid. Gonna be on a serious innings limit too. Probably why they signed Max. The 2 combined should hopefully cover 180 innings

Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios was hoping to the Puerto Rican team for that game against Italy, but those hopes have been dashed. MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson writes that Berrios underwent an MRI recently that revealed inflammation in his right elbow. While there’s no structural damage, he was nonetheless scratched from his start yesterday and the Blue Jays are now gathering additional information. It’s an unusual situation given that Berrios has seemingly not feeling any soreness in his elbow. The MRI was scheduled not due to issues on the right-hander’s end, but for insurance purposes ahead of his planned WBC appearance. It’s unclear if the news puts Opening Day in jeopardy for Berrios, who was already in danger of losing a spot in the Jays rotation at some point this year due to an influx of talent (Dylan Cease , Cody Ponce , and the emergence of top prospect Trey Yesavage ).

ughhh, never a good sign…

I had a feeling that was coming. He wasn’t pitching much. Just some side sessions and no spring game appearances. Hopefully a few months rest is enough.

Edit… Actually doesn’t sound too bad. He is still pitching and not being shut down.

The #BlueJays expect Trey Yesavage will keep throwing to build up and he’s next scheduled to pitch in March 25. This very likely means that Eric Lauer slides into the No. 5 role

Miles is a rule 5 guy so tough call. Lee is probably better but he has options

Blue Jays falling under their minimum mandatory weight requirements this spring. Could be a problem moving forward or backwords.

I’m good brother. Spring weather is here. I really appreciate the 5 or 6 dm’s I got from real dudes who care.

The old man has severe dementia. It is what it is. One day at a time. Just trying to enjoy the sun and warm weather and care for him at the same time.

God Bless you crazy fans
