2026 Draft Watch List

Hopefully. We were saying the same about 2027 a year ago and it fell apart. I still can’t believe what happened to Lagway.

Yeah, WR class really exceeded expectations. Kind of the only position group to do that. Most of them (edge, OT, QB) disappointed.

But Tate, Lemon, Concepcion, Bernard, Chris Bell, Brazzell, Omar Cooper, etc… all improved their stock pretty dramatically. I would argue some of my faves like Amare Thomas and Ian Strong did too, but that hasn’t been reflected in the community just yet.

I suppose maybe LB did too. Guys like Reese, Rodriguez, Golday, Trotter, Murdock, Aiden Fisher, Glasker, Arion Carter are much higher now than they were before the season started (Rojas would have been too if he hadn’t gotten hurt). Only Anthony Hill and Suntarine really disappointed.

2028 has significantly more redundancy. 2027, which I haven’t given up on, was very much leaning on Lagway (who I haven’t quit), Raiola (who I still like but hope plays for a different school next year) and Sayin.

2028 is to me more like a more talented version of the 2026 class.

But yeah, a ton can go right or wrong in two years.

I haven’t quit Lagway either, but he’s certainly not the slam dunk we thought he was. I haven’t quit Arch either (though I pretty much have given up on Nico), but what once looked like a borderline all-time class just looks fine now. Hopefully the same won’t happen to 2028.

What do you think of Caullin Lacy WR from Louisville? He looks pretty explosive and he does have 2 punt returns for TDs. I’m not sure what his draft stock is but I would be looking for guys like this in the 6th or 7th round. This kid kind of reminds me of Leaf.

He’s significantly less explosive than Leaf but the PR skills are intriguing.

I think Leaf is back next year though. I think his contract will begin decreasing which will facilitate him sticking.

When you watch him play receiver you’d think he’s almost a possession WR, he’s not nearly the sort of explosive you’d expect from such a good returner. Kind of like a Gunner Olszewski type, not as a comp, but as an example of a guy who’s not a crazy athlete but still a good returner. He’s probably a better athlete than Olszewski, but it’s that sort of deal.

How high does Z Branch go? Watching him just made me imagine he, Jamo and Gibbs on the field at the same time. That dude can accelerate ! I would imagine he would go late 1st or early 2nd?

That’s the range you see most often for him, but I worry he’s a little slight for that. And there are some excellent freak athletes with size issues we could get later. I’m a huge fan of Zavion Jones of LSU for instance, and @CuriousHusker loves Eric Rivers and both guys are in that vein.

Zavion Thomas? If you remember I shouted him out against Clemson as being perfect for us. I still like him very much but you conveniences me that his price tag was beyond what I was expecting.

But Thomas is the Leaf role. Rivers is a Z all the way so not at all a fit for us. But if someone wants gas…

Right, Zavion Thomas

Rivers is my Quez Watkins for this year. I always have one spindly blazer that I illogically fall in love with. It’s a Curious tradition.

I haven’t seen anyone accelerate like Branch since Kent St RB Dri Archer. He ran a 4.26 at the combine and he was a human highlight film.

LSU’s offensive collapse has crippled his (and the rest of the LSU offense’s) stock. If he could go back I think he would, but I don’t think he can.

I remember Archer, I actually comped someone to him recently, now it’s gonna drive me crazy trying to remember who it was….

Edit: Oh, it was D’Angelo Ponds. Size plus movement skills are really similar.

Archer declared 800 years too late. There was an era in which he would have been in extreme demand.

Kaden Wetjen, that is all.

Charlie Jones ?

Decent kicker but his holder Lucy is a bit unreliable.

I hyped Charlie ■■■■■■■ Jones the second he left IOWA, and he ended up leading the BIG 10 in yards and receptions I believe. Kaden is the only IOWA player I have pumped this year and he just broke Tim Dwights records.
