I am going to be honest and say that i shut it off after the first hail mary attempt.
I will also be transparent and say that i am surprised they added the second and not sure what justification they may have had to do so.
I will be blunt and say that Western Michigan should have won but also stopping a hail mary isnt that hard .
Lastly, i just dont really care considering that we get told all the time to outplay the officials like when they called the facemask against devin taylor leading to the hail mary against the Lions or insert many potential plays.
As far as i see Michigan won, really shouldnt have, but i will not apologize for officiating in any way considering there were horrible calls and non calls all around. It was a very sloppy defensive game
Nobody should have to apologize for officiating - missed calls and such happen. But when the game is over, but the conference decides it doesn’t like the result and adds time to an already finished game, to try and manipulate a manufactured win for its higher revenue generating conference member - that should rub everyone the wrong way who cares about ethics, fairness and morals in sports on the whole.

I turned the game off, because it was over. I texted my Aunt “Go Western!” because she went to Western and lived most of her life in Kalamazoo (she’s retired in Florida now). Imagine my shock when she replied “Crazy that’s bull*hit.” I had no clue what that response meant. I figured her wording got lost in translation or possibly her allegiance to Michigan grew after moving to Florida. She has always supported UM, but WMU has always come first. Hours later I see the ticker saying UM won on a hail mary. Imagine my surprise…and suddenly her text response made perfect sense.
I had a bet on WMU that I placed at halftime, to win the game. It paid 3 to 1 odds, so my $500 bet would pay out $1,500. When UM got the ball on the last drive, I was offered a $1,300 “cash out now" option…and I took it. I was tempted to ride out the final seconds to get the extra $200, but I have been burned too many times by last second shenanigans, that I told myself “don’t be greedy.” I am so glad I took the cash out offer. The skeptical side of me wonders how much gambling played into all of this. The pregame money line bet on Michigan to win the game paid pennies on the dollar, while it paid a small fortune for WMU to win. The spread tends to be closer to a 50/50 proposition, as the line moves to distribute the money equally on both sides of the points. Michigan pulling out the win saved bookies a ton of cash compared to what they would have to pay out if WMU won.
I left the stadium after the fumble. Glad we got the win but I am not looking forward to this season anymore. Bryce has shown zero improvement and the OL looks to have gotten worse. Maybe there was a reason the last staff didn’t spend much time on bench press.
I’ve now seen the Replay, with the Time/Second clock juxtaposed at the far right of the play in question. The WMU Player touches the Ball out of bounds with .01 Second left on the clock. By Rule, the play is Dead immediately, verified by TV Replay. The clock indicates 0:01 time left…That’s the Rule. Whether all of the clocks are properly synchronized is debateable. TV Commentary after the Game said ALL of the clocks were synchronized before the game started for just these kinds of events - (Teams battling for the last second). what follows after is what makes College Football exciting.
Seeing what the replay official’s saw with the in-stadium clock, it was the correct call. However, the broadcast clock was not in sync with the stadium clock, it clearly shows the clock expired. They need to show us in real time what the replay center officials are actually seeing. According to the YT guys the ACC does that. 99% of the time as a Lions fan, I’m on the losing side here. I’m taking the win and you can kiss my butt if you don’t like that.

Underwood didn’t even release the football until 4 seconds left…if the Western defender touched it out of bounds with one second left that means the ball only took 3 seconds to go 60yds or more
I know we may have other issues but I’m ready for the Carr era. I’ve seen enough of Underwood. He is so awful it’s really even hard to determine where we stand if the offense actually had a decent QB. He is so limited that he makes Denard Robinson look like a football god.
I can see Carr being the starter at some point this season. A lot of money was spent on Underwood, and I’m sure those who paid are going to want to make sure every effort was made to develop him. Carr seems like a good kid though who works hard.
