2nd Round, Pick 34: Lions Select Iowa TE Sam LaPorta

I got no beef with the RB. I’m not talking about the other thing.

False, but okay.

Here he is taking Sydney Brown’s soul

I do like LaPorta he has some run after catch stuff. It just seems to me we had all that draft capital and squandered it. A team like the Steelers had a much better draft and started with much less.

All picked by the handsomest GM

also power. Our OL & Monty are no joke at all…plus beef & TE now.
Mitchell & Laporta are a nice combo of diverse talents.

We can punch you in the face OR outrun ya!

This Offense is SO versatile. Johnson is an artist…he is gonna get so friggin creative with all of this shit. Wait’ll Laporta has a year in (next year), JaMoss is back, Mitchell is back with health & experience.
Gibby is gonna be OROY this year.
Total freak show with our WRs & RBs.
Ra is gonna rip teams apart (so will Laporte, once he gets rolling & acclimates)

Gibby is going to get constant attention, & JaMoss will force safety help over the top. YOU CAN’T STOP THAT.
WTF are you supposed to xo? Single cover him? hahahahaha

This is gonna get ugly

“The Villan” has done it, again!
The man didn’t just win the draft. He stole the draft.
Watching Grossi meltdown over the trade that gave us Branch, I realized. Holmes is a bully among GM’s. He’ll take your lunch money and make you believe that you gave it to him.

I really didn’t see much of a need at TE. I thought the guys we had last year did just fine. I really struggle with this draft.

Look at their RAS numbers, they are very close. I think LaPorta is like a half inch shorter and 2 pounds lighter.

How’s LaPorta run blocking & pass blocking

This is from Bleacher Report and I think it’s fairly accurate. One thing people need to keep in mind with Sam is that he had the worst starting QB in college football throwing at him for 2 seasons. He’s a good addition.

LaPorta will also be a plus blocker soon. He isn’t the biggest or strongest guy in the class, but he’s a sharp, flexible blocker with plenty of strength to handle any assignment. LaPorta excels both as a move blocker, like on pulling plays or as the splitter on split zone, as well as a blocker at the point of attack, such as on power or zone runs his way. LaPorta also can be flexed from the in-line Y spot to the wing/H position with ease, giving his future offense a bit of versatility in terms of formation.

Coming from Iowa we at least know he’s willing

That 6.91 3 cone and Amon-Ra-esque route running chops really show up there.

Let’s see what Steve Heiden can squeeze out of Mitchell and LaPorta in run blocking!!!
