I also think part of the frustration is when we put ourselves out there with information the guys that smash us for the information never come back with “nice call on that” etc. they just come at us on the next thing. Smash and move on.
The fact that we were calling Beese tape bad when even the top pundits were calling him a top 5 pick was huge.
The call out on the interview where Brads body language said we were passing on Carter.
The rise of Keion White to the 2nd round.
Those are the 3 that jumped to mind but I know there were many others.
It’s not about getting call outs for being right. it’s just about respecting your opinion based on the history of information you put out. It’s easy to sit back and say we are full of shit.
Going against the grain to try to provide information is risky. I personally love what you bring to the forums. There are only a handful of risk takers here and we as a group NEED that imo. If all we are doing is regurgitating what we see on twitter we may as well be on twitter.
I personally come here for the discussions like the ones you present and the possibility of information I can’t get on twitter. So from me to you, thank you!
Martin will sit for a while until he can get in NFL shape but I think by the second half of the season this teams draft picks will be hitting on all cylinders. Still have to earn your time on the field but the concept of raising the floor is very much in play.
I’ll just say it… This is my least favorite pick of the draft and the only real “reach” that I see. I’ve only seen a little of his film, but I’m not impressed. He’s got physical traits, but is EXTREMELY raw, which is why I say this is the only real reach in the draft for the Lions. Bad feet, bad hands, but we’ll see what the coaching staff can do with him. He’s a 6th rounder all day in my book, but if I only dislike one pick in their whole draft, I’d say we’re doing pretty well. Again, like the other higher picks, if you swap his draft slot with Antoine Green’s, I’m happy as pie… I’ll leave it at that.
Kudos to those that have acknowledged B Martin’s body of work in the Shrine Bowl. I killed him for what he looked like wearing a WKU jersey in the various snaps that I saw.
Watching the complete shrine bowl it’s like a completely different player. Arguably the most impactful player on the field. Defense goes from Swiss Cheese to a stone wall in the run game when he’s on the field other than one weak side zone run (he gets reached & id be shocked if that’s something they’d ask him to do at the next level responsibility wise)
