Brad and Dan have this team as a bonified contender for a SB. Brad has been pretty amazing at drafting. I look at it like we’re all tied up in the 9th inning and Brad is taking a swing for the fences when he can.
If this cat fizzles out we still had a very good draft. Same with Bromart and we are still yet to see year two of him.
But if either one of these swings is turns out to be a home run, maybe we go into the 9th with a commanding lead.
In the meantime the team seems to have gotten a lot better. at least on paper.
Don’t think it got worse.
This guy is bigger than sewell with lower body fat percentage…
He looks like a 350 pound guy who can run a 5 second 40 and jump 33.5 inches…
Damn
I think it is fair to say……
#1…. Holmes does KNOW more than any of us here.
#2…. None of us know anything because a mock draft said a player should be picked at a given place.
#3…. Nobody here has a true top 150 board that compares to any NFL team’s board.
#4…. No team ever was “damaged” dramatically over the long haul for trading a future 3rd for a current 4th….
Welcome, Poptop. It’s an exciting time to be a Lions fan. The stench of Matt Millen is a thing of the past, though a marker of how far the team and organization has progressed. Don’t youi agree?
it looks like he is playing against high school kids.

Yeah, he’s a specimen but he looks like Andre the Giant blocking Roddy Pipers.
That’s because you’ve never watched USports and the qualty of athlete.
Those are comp 3rd picks in the 6th. In terms of Dane’s rankings I mean.
I wonder if he can kick ?

kicker will come from here!
Here is the critique GioMan on WalterFootball:
“
Detroit Lions: Giovanni Manu, OT, British Columbia – MILLEN Grade
Sorry, Lions fans, for giving you a Millen grade, but this isn’t the best selection. Giovanni Manu is a late-round prospect, so had Detroit made this pick a round later, I wouldn’t have minded it. However, surrendering a third-round pick in 2025 to get him is a huge mistake. A huge, kielbasa type of mistake.”
We’ll see in a year or two how this looks–but if GioMan and BroMart turn into somethin’ somethin’, Brad will officially be the Rain Man of Drafting.
It is not that we selected this prospect, it is where he was selected. However, he has the athleticism and ability to be good. As an offensive line coach I would love to work with him. To me, it seems the development type players just dont work out a heavy amount of the time. It almost seems like they would be better with private coaching. Individual coaching. I see a lot of potential on this Manu as a prospect. He has the ability, but it takes rep after rep after rep to gain the muscle memory to gain the correct instincts. The earlier you start, say at a young age - and when you gain the correct instincts, well, youre technique becomes natural. Very much like a wrestler or boxer. With that said, the NFL stands for Not For Long. That is my issue with this selection. However, drafting Mahogany in round 6 eases the blow.
If he is Jordan Mailata….
it is a GENIUS move.
If he flames out… oh well.
Over 50% of 3rd round picks don’t have great careers.

He has that potential. The issue is we could have drafted him later. But, getting Mahogany where we did makes it a wash. If Manu wants to be great, any good OL coach will teach him what he needs to be great. He Is 2-3 years from being ready. He needs individual coaching. Maybe just send him to Lecharles Bentley or Duke Manyweather for a year? He would have zero pressure and just hone in on technique. Individual. Reps, reps, reps. Individual coaching. It could really expedite his development over being coached in practice and going through the motions while he is trying to develop in practice. He can focus more on technique, rather than a a ton of things. Some even outside of football. Then when he is ready with his technique, you introduce him to the playbook, etc.
Associating anything that Brad Holmes does with Matt Millen is the dumbest focking thing I have ever seen.
The writer should be taken out back and beaten with a sock full of soap.

quarters man… sock full’a change!

Ah, my absolute favorite draft critique, bar none.
It’s almost like Brad hasn’t done a single mock on a simulator to know who he can get in what round.
If I have to choose between injured in college but has shown excellence and huge dude who played against JUCO type competition, I’m picking excelled in the SEC but blew out his knee.
So for me, Bro.Mart and Manu are wasted picked. Bro.Mart looked completely lost and 0% chance of playing time even with our DL that needed any help possible.
Now Lions really needed OL help - this guy will make Sorsdal look like Odgen most likely. Just because he mauled some guys who could never in their wildest dreams make the practice squad in the NFL does not make him good.
I would rather another Hendon Hooker type flyer.
