4th Round, Pick 126: Lions Select OT Giovanni Manu

Manu playing right guard next to Sewell. Now that’s a big wall to run behind

With Skipper on the other side of Sewell…ouch.

Placing him on the right side is to ease his transition to RT. Sorsdal may play RT this year.

Manu will be coached up from scratch basically, so take him away from what he may “know” on the left side and where he is more raw, so he doesn’t have to unlearn but create from scratch new muscle memory and techniques.

And also what it signals to Decker too? When GioMan was drafted at #126, I’m thinking eventual Decker replacement. You brought up a great point about avoiding ingrained habits by starting him on the right side.

I’m no nfl coach or scout, and I am 100% confident that I could improve his form. He literally needs to work on everything.

…also → Fraley is awesome and Manu seems pretty 8/10 driven

These other guys must be teammates and tall also. Because he doesn’t look 6’8” 350lb to me in this picture. Just watched some other film on this guy he is one of the biggest projects I have seen. His stance is super narrow, he gets lost on plays.

His Nickname to me is “the big a** project”

Posted a few interviews down below… gotta say I really like the kid he seems like a super nice guy. Just know he is a big lottery ticket for Holmes.

You think they mis-measured his height at his pro day?

No just those pictures don’t look like a 6’8” guy standing next to those other guys, like I said maybe those other guys are tall his teammates.

More on Manu!

Pretty sure it was already posted earlier but I can hardly fault you for not scrolling back that far. But yeah Voch has been low man on him ever since the Cowboys showed interest.

His movements/mannerisms remind me of Trent Brown?

And who is Voch?

Kind of amazing that one of the best QBs of all time was only able to lead his team to a conference championship once.

Voch Lombardi. Kinda the Cowboys version of Risdon, but maybe less official? I don’t know if he’s hired by any of the big sports sites or just produces his own content. But the Cowboys fans I know listen to him.

Ah, Cowboys fan. Must have had a Lombardamy.

More from 3 months ago. Before his proday

found this video of Manu playing basketball in high school…
showing games played just 6 weeks after his 17th birthday!

He averaged 30 points/game… and shows nice feet and coordination for a huge kid.

@SirLion

So while I do not disagree with your rant in this posting.

I would like to correct something you stated here.

I would suggest that if he is a 2-3 round talent by next years draft then he was a great deal. This is just my take on the situation. He has a year to meet that mark. Again just the way I look at the situation.

But again in general. He is a complete stab in the dark as a player. As a specimen he is obviously out of a claymation movie as the super hero. So there was a huge risk here. And to OP, one would prefer to take a piece of clay this raw in the UDFA market, One wonders if burning a 3rd from next season made much sense and reeked IMO a bit of the “I am the smartest man in the room” move. With that said, Holmes has drafted so well that he has earned the right, and additionally if he says we needed to move up to get this guy then I will believe him as again he has earned the right to make some “interesting” picks.
