5th Round, Pick 152: Lions Pick William & Mary OT Colby Sorsdal

Academic All-American and started his graduates program to play for another year. I think it’s a safe bet. I like his comfort level right out of the gate in front of the mic.

I only saw the start of 2nd half, how did he do overall? How do we feel if he has to start at RT on Thursday at GB?

He struggled but at least he has some snaps under his belt but man oh man do we need Decker back, as well as Big V. Granted, stating the obvious.

He is not ready for prime time

With that said he held his own. But stale mate is not what you are looking for. You need dudes that can win at the point of attack.

The last drive felt like it was all running plays called over Sewell. And for good reason. Right side was not getting a great push.

Sewell and JJ, expect more of that Thursday.

With that said.

If he can become a solid backup you had a steal.

He reminds me of a dude the Raiders would find in the 70s at a biker rally and would end up being a 10 year all pro.

So I have hope here.

I still think the long term is having him at OG not OT where he has opportunity to start.

Those injuries resulted in fifth-round draft pick Colby Sorsdal entering the game at right tackle. He played tackle in college, but was drafted to play guard for the Lions. He did see 12 snaps at right tackle in the preseason finale, but Sunday marked his first regular season playing time on offense.

“I mean, you always gotta prepare to get your name called, for whatever that position that might be, right?” Sorsdal said. “I knew I was ready to go, regardless if it was right guard, left guard, right tackle, whatever. It happened to come at right tackle, and I played right tackle my whole college career, so it was like riding a bike.”
