That’s what we play here in our town for some time now. Last regular season, undefeated and lost in the playoffs. This season, undefeated and still rolling. Our QB just set the 8 man Iowa record for TD’s, 151 and climbing. He’s getting some looks but hard to know where he may end up, his dad is our head coach and he’s holding his cards close to the vest. I had never heard of 8 man football until IOWA brought in a kid by the name of Chad Greenway from South Dakota, now it’s a big thing here as rural schools are trending down in head count. Go Tigers!

I wonder if there’s any consideration to changing the NFL to 10 players on the field… Or making the field bigger. Athletes have gotten bigger and faster, but the game hasn’t changed to reflect that.
Unless you count the zebras throwing a lot more laundry around as a change to the game?
Bigger field equals Gibby with7 td per game
A great many small schools in michigan jave switched to 8 man. Its pretty fun, but has a more arena football feel. The skills transfer over the same when it comes to college ball. My hometown switched over and won a state title within a few years after about 40 years of futility in 11 man.
You ok over there Natty?

Sad
Are you concerned about the typo or the fact that he’s not his typical optimistic self by predicting a mere 7 tuddies per game for his dude Gibbs?
Yes and no, anyone that wants to play gets to play. Mostly true in smaller towns but absolutely true here. Town of 2,500, same population as ten years ago but class size dropped to about 2/3 in the first 8 years but is climbing now.
Both
Debatable. lol.

Same thing for my hometown. We were never going to make it very far in 11 man. The year they switched to 8 man they won the state championship. It’s been a life saver for a lot of smaller schools.

Enrollments been shrinking since the 80s and fewer kids were going out for the team than they used to. 8 man keeps the game alive at the small schools.
They pass more than in 11 man which i think is a lot of fun for the kids and i tend to think it’s a little bit safer too just based on the mathematics of it. I still prefer 11 man but have come to accept the reality.
