Is this typically the case? Bye week after international?

49ers named Rams' opponent for NFL's 1st game in Australia
The 49ers will be the Rams' opponent for the first NFL regular-season game in Melbourne, Australia during the 2026 season.

How… generous of them?
I’ll give credit where it is due. Having teams visit other countries as a novelty is far more sustainable than trying to have a team based in Europe.
I saw Kraft said last week the eventual plan is for every team to play 1 international game per year.
Remember that FC Barcelona was supposed to play a regular season game in Miami and the fans revolted and made the league cancel the game.
Soccer may be a weak sport, but their fans do what it takes to preserve the game.
Soccer fans also prevented the creation of the Super League a few years back.
Yes, every team has a bye following an international game
Our boys will need the time off to finish digesting all that schnitzel und sauerkraut. Not to mention pissing out the 5 gallons of beer served at a traditional German dinner.
Yeah I know, they don’t serve anything by the gallon in Germany. But anyone who tries to make me describe things in metric can kiss my Yankee Doodle ass. USA! USA!
Ill have to do digging on that.
I was under the assumption that it was over by 6pm local BROADCAST time not location.
IE as soon as it hits 6pm in the Eastern time zone the feed goes black. But still good for central going west.
.
That’s possible… the “Black Friday” games are a 3pm kickoff… so that would be cutting it tight.
If so… 3pm L.A. time is 10am Melbourne time.
That might be early for the Aussies… but the U.S. TV audience matters more than Aussie convenience.

Yes, every team has a bye following an international game
Teams have the option of choosing a bye after the international game or telling the NFL to treat it like a normal game and have their bye fall naturally on the schedule. There have been dozens of teams who opted not to have a bye after the international game. Particularly if its an early season game.
That being said, having a bye week on November 8th makes a ton of sense for the Lions. Its a coveted “midseason bye” that is only 2 weeks later than our bye last year. We would have 8 or 9 games…bye…then 8 or 9 games to finish the season.

49ers vs Rams for Aussie game being reported

Updated my projections.
Ive been trying to look at hotels in the areas around the stadium to see if any of the dates have a much higher rate or blacked out.
The Holiday Inn right next to the stadium in Australia
No crazy increases.
Other than 40% higher on new years (normal)
And50% higher thanksgiving weekend.
Seams a bit odd. Thursday Night?
Wait are we in Brazil instead of Germany now?
Based on markets.
Atlanta only has an international market in Germany
Detroit has Germany & Brazil
Patriots have the NFL announcement of the Brazil game on their home page. So my guess is Lions in Brazil vs Atlanta.
Just simply ran out of teams with the Matrix to make it work with Detroit in Germany
Birkett said Dallas was heading to Brazil and was still guessing Lions to Germany.
Let me guess, it’s our season for 9 home games.
Yes. All NFC teams have 9 home games this year.
BUUUT as of right now. Most likely the international game is a road game

In 2024, the Packers got 9 at home, 7 on the road, and a “road” game in Brazil against Philly.
‘Bout time we get some of that favor.
Dallas confirmed in the Brazil game by the NFL.
