90 Man Roster Bubble Tracker

@DeadStroke
What do you have for the projected in season cap space? Im at just under $33m with Mac and Rodrego starting on the IR.

The DB part is equal to yours at 10. The DL part is near equal at 10.

The LB number is high because I think we have guys there that we’d rather have than at OL, RB or WR. Guys that can contribute.

I’m not worried about the game day roster so much.

Goff/Hooker

Monty/Gibby/Vaki

Ra/Jamo/Patrick/Teslaa/Raymond

Decker/Manu
Glasgow/Frazier
Ragnow
Ratledge/Mahogany
Sewell

Hutch/Hassenein

Levi/Tyliek

Reader/Lopez

Z Smith/Daveport/Paschal

AA/Stuard

Campbell

Barnes/Nowaske

Arnold/Rock

Reed/Rake

Robertson/Maddox

Branch/Jackson

Joseph/Norris

Fox
Bates
LS

Eventually Mac, Wingo and Rodrigo

So add 3 more while those guys pup.

I presume Muhammad, Skipper, TE3

I am not sure Lovett is a lock. Meeks is not a bad receiver. And they could just go with 5 and PS the rest.

Right…not sure we would keep 6 wr’s on the 53. We usually don’t.

On a different note expand the 53 already. Teams could easily have 55 to 60 on the active roster.

He just added one extra guy to make it 46 so we have room for Z!!!

But we also could use some competition at LB and safety.

OTC Top 51 42,360,178
errors 534,204
NFLPA 42,894,382
Draft Picks in Top 51 2,300,527
Getting to 53 2,200,000
Alim and Rodrigo PUP 2,200,000
Practice Squad 4,200,000 10,900,527
31,993,855

Then plus elevations and in-season IR, etc.

593K difference is I’m starting with NFLPA’s figure instead of OTC (which Jason admits is more accurate). Whichever, we are very close, within $1M.

I know they want to roll some over for next year but over all. Say on the low low end. Say $25m is a safe bet for “actual” cap space. Aka. What they want to roll over but if they need to spend they will.

I dont see the Lions tapping to much into that till closer to the trade deadline

I am shocked the roster has stayed 53 for so long.

I imagine the new CBA is definitely gonna make that a bargaining point.
If the NFL wants to go to 18 regular season games, 2 preseason, 16 playoff teams.

Yea Roster needs to go from 53 to 58+
Practice squad from 16 to 20.
And IR elevation max from 8 to 10.

Which would take the theoretical max players in the NFL from
2,464 to 2,816

Year - Roster - PS - IR
1970: 47 - 0 - 0
1993: 53 - 5 - 0
2008: 53 - 8 - 1
2020: 53 - 16 - 8

It blows my mind that the Active roster has not changed in over 30 years. And only 11 more PS and 8 from IR have changed. And that ONLY happened thanks to Covid.

Oh and the Game day roster has only gone from 45 in 1975 to 46 in 1991 to 48 in 2020 (covid)

Like the NFL roster size has virtually not changed ever since its inception (SB era)

Yet so many other policies and rules have changed.

And the only major change was thanks to covid.

I think Frazier is a lock and will earn it no problem.
