A fantasy football topic

Guys, I need some help. Since the inception of FF, I was always against it personally. I NEVER wanted ANY reason to root against any Lion’s success. I would hear people say things like - I hope the Lions win… but I need Josh Allen to have a great game… NOPE… uh uh.

But now, I am entertaining joining an office league, but ONLY selecting Lions players. It seems like we have a bevy of skill players and it’s mostly for bragging rights anyway - so I think I’d like to give it a go, but I need some help knowing what order of Lions players I should target. My buddy said Amon-Ra will be the first Lion off the board, then toss up LaPorta/Jahmyr. He thinks Goff will go later on. Anyway any feedback would be appreciated and if anyone here did this last year, how did it go?

If your goal for FF is to just root for the Lions and not win the league, then yeah, drafting only Lions players is a good strategy.

Or just draft the best players on teams in the AFC North, AFC West and AFC East except Buffalo, then no internal conflict.

I am intersted in forming a FF league and collecting all the money. Do i need to pay it out at the end of the season?

Depends on the league format, number of GMs, roster positions, where you are picking in the draft etc.

General guidelines based on mock drafts for 10 or 12 team leagues-

Sun God is going mid late 1st round

Gibbs is being overdrafted in late 1st, but isnt getting past mid 2nd

LaPorta is being overdrafted in early-mid 2nd, probably wont get past early 4th and should be a 3rd rd target for an all Lions scenario

Montgomery is all over the place 4th to 8th.

Jamo is 5th-8th round.

Goff is QB 10-12 or so being taken and will probably be there in rounds 6-9, IF you are in a 4 point passing TD league, then later than that, like 8-11.

Define “mostly”.

IE “IF” there is a buy in, it will be nominal. 10 bucks or so. Not to where if I lose, which I surely will, it will be a horrible decision to try.

Thanks Wease. Exactly what I was looking for.

I have Goff in a keeper league. I’m not putting him back on the open market.

At least one person that draft will either know going in or figure out pretty quickly what you’re doing and will probably screw you over if not just to do it then because they understand that you’re going to grab that guy ahead of average draft position and they want him.

That happens with especially the first three guys in the first three rounds don’t take the same position guy necessarily take the best player available on the board and try to grab some good value in the later rounds to make a trade for that guy that the other guy is obviously going to win but you don’t care

Well, I’m not going to make it a secret. It would be the only way I’d do it. There will probably only be 6-8 people, so I’ll probably be ok. The ones I’d be most worried about getting snapped up ahead of me would be Gibbs and LaPorta. It would make me sad.

Yeah 6-8 team league is basically a superstar league, so get Gibbs and LaPorta in rd s 2 and 3.

Best draft slot is probably 4 or 5 for you if it works out that way

I don’t believe Gibbs is being over drafted at all. He’s in the early to mid 2nd round range. In PPR leagues pass catching RB’s are the best to get. So I think he’s going to be one of the best. LaPorta is not being over drafted either.

I think Saquan, and Bijan are 1a and 1b even over CMAC. Kamara, and Eckler good value later. I’ve been drafting Nabers who i think will be among the best.

LaPorta in the 2nd is overdrafted.

High Volume WR 1
Pass catching RB
New downfield WR threat
Gadget WR3 with big chunk plays.

Lions wete first team ever to have 4 players w 10+ TDs.

LaPorta will struggle to repeat his numbers even without more Jamo targets.

I like the Delta theory of drafting, been doing it for a decade + ( get the biggest production difference by position for keepers and general draft strategy, not ADP or positional value), but I think that gap between SLaP and the TE group will be a lot smaller this year.

I was in 6 leagues and won 2

My keeper league that I won is allowing us to keep up to 8 players but 3 have to be D players. We have 13 D slots

I’m keeping Goff, ARSB, Nico Collins, Kyren Williams And Rachaad White for O players.

For D I’m keeping Brian Branch. Hutch and Antoine Windfield.Jr.

Any one of those D players is worth value over a 3rd string WR/RB.
