So the strategy moving forward should be that the closest player to the ball runs up, gets set, every other player gets set (Or do they even have to get set?), regardless of where they are on the field, and then he hikes the ball. Basically a free stoppage of the clock when your team clearly wasn’t ready.
I was grumbling about that to my wife, how the Lions are the guinea pigs when the league wants to try out a new rule. At least it didn’t cost us a game this time.
It would be interesting to know if the Vikings did that on purpose, knowing that they didn’t have enough time for a proper spike but could get everyone set in an illegal formation before time expired.
I’d commend it honestly. If you’re smart enough to exploit a rule in the gazillion page NFL rulebook then good for you. Didn’t effect the outcome of the game but it sure did get them a final play.
Just read this interesting penalty stat… The Lions are the only team to not get a beneficial pass interference call… Zero PI calls against their opponents through 6 games
Also Goff threw 2 interceptions that day and afterwards, no one it seemed, gave him the benefit of the doubt on that Jamo no call. It was just, that’s what happens when you pressure Goff.
