AG’s Defense

I think AG deserves some love, he’s really turned things around this season. I think the way the D has played while missing Hutch is the biggest feather in his cap. Hopefully we can get him a little help this week at the deadline - but he’s got Branch and Kerby straight ballin at the safety spot. With all the injuries I’m a bit concerned at how fast this rushing D has stared to crack but again some reinforcements would give AG some more firepower

PS - I’d rather have this conversation than try and engage in the half dozen “fire AG” threads on the home page from people just looking to troll, flame and argue (dude enjoy the 7-1 team Christ)

I’m liking Carlton Davis back there. Well worth the 3rd rd pick. Not sure what will become of him after the season since they have a lot of mouths to feed but hoping we can find a way to resign him. Having the right pieces to work with sure makes a difference in AG’s defense

Been a big critic of AG. To date I never saw AG as someone who could elevate whats around him.

However, he’s been great this year. When Hutch went down I waited for the defensive implosion but it just hasn’t happened. Props to Glenn and the D.

You and I have both been on similar wavelengths about AG for a while. But I agree - down Hutch, Branch, Davenport, Rodrigo, Iffy, Mosely, Paschal, Commish and he’s still out here getting this D to perform. Hes finally showing me what I have always hoped to see

He deserves all the credit he gets.

His defense is performing well… even with a bunch of injuries.

Big thing is the dawgs in the secondary

They thought they had them last year, but Cam Sutton pulling a disappearing act didnt help halfway through the season, forced AG to use heavy DB blitzs to get pressure

Now, even with Hutch out, you have the best safety duo in the NFL (Outside of the packers even then Mckinney is above williams) and 3 good man corners in Arnold, Robertson, and CD3, which i think has helped immensely.

Brad Holmes going heavy on the DB’s this year has paid off big time imo so far this season, I can actually trust the secondary to make huge plays when needed, and with AG scheming pretty good at times, its created a good unit

If hutch didnt get injured, this is easily a top 3 defense, as it is now, its a top 10 unit, and thats despite the injuries.

Whens iffy back?

I had heard he’s expected soon but they’re not rushing it.

I also heard that they plan to use him as their starting box safety and implement more big nickel packages.

So expect more big nickel packages when he does come back.

Props to the much maligned (here) AG. I was down on him 18 months ago. As he’s been given some horses the level of play has risen. Happy to eat some crow here.

I am excited to see how this young secondary looks at end of season. I truly believe with time and experience together they are growing week over week and could be a force by the playoffs.

I believe Davis said in his welcome presser that Lions had approached him about an extension. Likely I think he’s gone to highest bigger but hopefully he’s helping us hoist a trophy first.

Will Lee III AKA, The Blanket, is the perfect long term replacement for Carlton IMO. When the draft crush arrives he’ll be in there for me.

Only 6 passing TDs given up in 8 games. Per Lions media.

And Branch and Kerby have a combined 10 interceptions. Pretty freaken good draft picks those 2 were. Credit to AG for coaching them up.

AG is on a roll right now with the game plans and adjustments.
I’ve been a huge critic but always said if he turns it around I would give him props

Bend dont break defense

Dont give up the big play
Lock down in the red zone.
Force turnovers.

Definitely a winning formula. That I never thought AG could execute, but he’s doing a phenomenal job

19.3 yards per point allowed.
Meaning on average, the opposing offensive needs to get 135+ yards for a TD!
