My buddy and I were arguing about this today. Do you think that’s symptomatic of a non-championship culture? A sign that the Eagles aren’t it?
Or was it just a goof ball attention seeking WR wanting his chunk of the news cycle and it is in no way symbolic of an unbuttoned up organization? Something else altogether?
It’s not a big deal, but it is another sign that AJ Brown is not happy with the passing game. I think this is more of a silent protest type of thing. Remember, Brown called out the passing game after the Panthers game that they barely won. Brown is basically making the point that if you aren’t going to use me, I will just sit here, chill and read a book.
It’s nothing, it’s a inspiration book. He probably just likes reading positive messages throughout the game. Apparently he has been doing it all season.
I think it is problematic, I just don’t think it’s a big deal. AJ Brown reading a book is not going to stop Philadelphia from winning games. I do think it could impact the morale of the team. I do think Brown should be spending more time talking to Hurts about what they are both seeing. I think that relationship is far more fractured than is being admitted, and that the offense has lost confidence in Jalen Hurts as a passer. As we’ve seen with the Bears receivers and Caleb Williams, WR’s HATE running routes for the sake of cardio. If the WR’s don’t feel they are a part of the game plan, they will check out. And, read a book, apparently.
Cameras did pick it up
They had pictures of the pages on the MacAfee show he was reading where he had highlighted certain paragraphs that were inspirational thoughts
Would you want players on your sideline reading books during the game. Maybe I’m just an old soul, but he’s not working the register of a book store.
To me it gives off me rather than we vibes. I could never see that with our guys. We always seem to be vibing together AS A TEAM. Especially our stars.
It’s not like he was reading a novel. Its a sports psychology book thats been recommended by multiple athletes.
The media could of made an article about him reading that book when he had a game with over a hundred yards and a td. They purposefully bring it up after a one catch game to make him look like a problem.
I think it’s a bit naive to assume there is no relation to the passing game sucking, his stats being down, and his vocalization of being upset with the lack of passing game - and the book situation. To each their own tho.
Normally players are looking at game plays and tape to make in game adjustments. I would say reading a book shows a lack of interest in what is happening on field and would think that is a problem.
When I did factory work, I would read As a Man Thinketh and Think and Grow Rich in the corner of the break room. People probably thought I was weird. Probably right.
Oh, and Read Those Books…2 of best 5 books Ive ever read. James Allen and Napoleon Hill., respectively. As a Man Thinketh is super short, but its a " read…stop…think…read…think…" kind of book.
