Good riddance. I’ll never get over the way he would always try to punch the ball out instead of making a damn easy tackle. I appreciate the scrapy play and the good games he has had, but he can scram for all I care.

Wait, wait, wait… are you being mean to a player who’s leaving us?

Glad we didn’t re-sign him. Undersized and played with his heart rather than his head, which isn’t a good thing.

He had some good games but what I’ll remember is him making desperate gambles that left guys wide ass open far too often.

Totally agree. He’s been the best cover corner on the Lions for the past 2 seasons. He was never signed to be a #1 (or a #2 for that matter) but all the injuries forced him to punch above his weight class and he held his own. I’ll never understand hating a guy being paid like he’s a fringe roster depth CB because he’s not excelling as a #1 corner playing a ton of snaps and asking to cover guys like JJets in man all game. The Lions were fortunate with that signing and certainly received surplus value. Kicking him on the way out because he’s not going to thrive as a full time starter playing man all game feels a little out of touch with reality.

It feels a bit like kicking Kalif Raymond on the way out the door because he was never a 1,000 yard receiver - that’s not what we signed him for. That’s not what he was paid or expected to do. Amik was paid like the role of Raymond, but ended up with the responsibility of St Brown due to injured. Of course Raymond wouldn’t thrive in that role either.

I love Amik and PFF isn’t the end all be all but he was the 6th worst corner in the NFL last year and it felt like it

…shutting down Justin Jefferson Week18, 2024.

And for that game alone, his time here was well worth it.

Yes i been mean about this guy since last season. I’m so happy he’s gone. The dirbag

oh yeah, anyone that leaves us in any way “wanted out” the scumbag !!

I wish Amik well. But he was mediocre at best last year and I’m being kind.

We had threads about him getting 50 million. :joy:
