Safety Kerby Joseph ($680,854), cornerback Jerry Jacobs ($647,873), defensive tackle Benito Jones ($558,685) and linebacker Derrick Barnes ($543,931) also received payouts of more than a half-million dollars after playing last season on minimum contracts.

I love this performance pay system. In real life I think of it like giving big bonuses to the lowest paid employees. I know its tradition to give the highest paid employees the biggest bonuses while shoveling crumbs to the lower paid people. But imagine the look on a $30k employee’s face when they open a $15k bonus check.
