Another Coach Out

Been with the Lions 3 seasons. Assuming the new dline coach Rodgers from then Bucs is bringing in one of his guys to replace Davis.

Haha. He was one of the longest tenured defensive coaches we had.

Davis also could be seeking something else.
This would be the 3rd D-Line Coach he would be reporting to in the last 3 years.
I wonder if he formed a relationship with T. Williams or AG enough to get a gig with Patriots or Jets?

Cam Davis is the kind of coach that the 2022 Detroit Lions needed to have, but is not “good enough” for the 2025 Detroit Lions. Cam did his part. But I look forward to the upgrade.

I don’t think it’s a big loss but it is probably best for him and the Lions.
I think the Lions still view him as the small college coach he was when he started and never will turn such an important group as the D-Line over to him.
Davis can take his 3 years working with (now big names) Dan, AG, and T. Williams, and leverage that into more pay and potential full D-Line Coach potential.

No talk of loyalty with this one?

The way it’s worded, I’m not sure he had a choice.

Who had the coaches spreadsheet going and have they been maintaining it?

Loyalty is a one-way street.

F-em until next year.

Yes it is.

No, he didn’t. That’s kind of what I’m getting at. Coaches/players have to look out for themselves and take the jobs that they feel are best for them. They only owe loyalty to themselves and their families. At the end of the day everyone looks out for themselves.

Us against Them

Gotchu

Still need a WR coach (thats a decent sized need)

And Assistant DL and LB coaches (which doesn’t matter TOO much but would be nice to find someone that matches the culture ie retired player)

However, rumor is The Jets want Engstrand
