Any word about Joseph

I agree with your point.. I do wonder why you have Maddox as our highest ranked db? Maybe thats just vs expectations? He’s an older vet who has never really been a good full time starter anywhere he’s been. Reed struggled with this injury, but still has the best history of play.. although it was all with the jets in a different system that asked him to play less man coverage.

Maddox with the Lions has been a top 20 ranked safety according to PFF.

That’s very good. And thats with 35% of snaps. So a decent sample size.

Reed struggled last year. Idk if it was scheme or injury but just hasn’t lived up to up to his top 20 grade the 2 previous years with the jets

I think everyone looked MUCH better in zone.

Like shocker, we have below average sized DBs. Those do better in zone.

Thats my biggest worry for the season. Will they FINALLY run more zone. More 4/2/5. Run more stunts. things they virtually did none of last season.

but when they did. They played the best all season.

IIRC, he played well until he got hurt; it was after he came back that he really struggled.

Risdon thinks he came back too soon.

DeAngelo Hall. I think he went from CB to S

There aren’t many …

Forgot about Hall.. but honestly he wasn’t a starter after he returned.. and he changed to safety. Probably hard to argue he was even remotely the same guy

Yeah, I’m worried about Branch …

I was just watching World Trade Center. When they’re taking the bus down to the Trade Center site one of the officers says my wife just heard on Hot 97 that tower 2 was hit as well.

One of the older cop says…..who in the hell gets their news from Hot 97?!?! lol

Dan said over the weekend, that they were “going to be smart” with all 3 players.

They’re not going to rush them back. They want them completely healed.

Just my take… If Jack plays the way he did last year, Hutch becomes more effective with additional support from DJ and D Moore, and a healthy and more seasoned version of both Mac and Tyliek show up, then I’m far less concerned. It was great having a crazy talented safety duo, but was also failed to play a single season with a true top 10 defense for a full year.

Let’s say Laporta is fine, and we get about 6-8 games each from Kerby and Branch…

  • those are all pretty damn set for years- 16 young starters multi year deals. Sure we don’t have absolute clarity on Moore, Tyliek, or Abney/Rake/McCreary but 3 deep works for me

LB2, CB1, LG- we are hoping these questions are answered by Arnold, Barnes/Rolder, Mahogany/Scruggs- but far from solved…

  • the crazy part is that almost every position above either has an All Pro or Pro Bowler already, or has a young “high ceiling” kid that was a high pick and has a solid vet backup (Moore, Wonnum), or a decently proven nfl player with a potential “Brad Special” behind them (McCreary/Abbney or Barnes/Rolder)..

TE, FS, SS- this is what we are worried about. With a full compliment if picks, a decent amount of cap space- I’d say we either see more of Kerby, Branch and Laporta than many fear, or we get a solid vet at the deadline and solve the other two permanently in the off-season. It’s sucks, but I think Brad will figure it out.

If Moore and Tyliek live up to expectations, this matters a lot less.
