Not Ben related per say but I wonder if we have anymore recent players who we can turn into coaches
like Brunell/Antwaan Randle El/Dre Bly/etc

We must be watching different games. I think I can count on one hand how many times the D has been drawn offsides.
If you are referring to blown assignments, I would agree, but thats lack of execution, not discipline.
And yet none of them will be looking at Paul Chryst
Probably not. Iād say the odds we look at him are pretty low too, overall, though heād be a good fit.
I agree that itās totally not happening
No Iām specifically talking about Vildor, Sutton and now CJ getting caught with eyes in the backfield, and a WR blowing by. CJ was jumping routes like he was in the slot with over the top helpā¦ but he wasnāt.
How many times have Barnes or Campbell severely overrun or bit on plays and gotten lost in space?
Our DTs have definitely stayed home and helped stuff the run despite a talent disparity, and kudos.

In my opinion thatās the group playing consistently above average football-
Lyonfan1 what does this post have to do with the Header ???
What is wrong with you?
Iād stay with our own camp internally. If Scottie or Tanner is ready, preferably Scottie, and Iād give Hank a raise and maybe some additional moniker of recognition.
If we keep Jared, Hank, the OL and Scottie and Tanner on staff, then I doubt our offense changes for the worse.
Yote- my last post was in reference to be okay if Glenn was hired as a HCā¦ sure we additional 2 third rounders- but a chance to get a veteran voice that has created, developed, staffed and executed a top D would be awesome. Get me Rex or J Fox, and give them 2 years then a Cush job to hand reigns to Shep.
Iād love Scottie and Shep eventually.
Before we talk about loyalty letās consider a couple things.
Ben stayed with us last year in order to see us win. Passed a once in a lifetime opportunity and was fortunate enough to bet on himself and win a second chance.
If I am Tanner or Scottie, I would think they would rather be an OC for the Lions already winning team than one with Ben Johnson. My guess is he will get whomever is the Lionsā second choice for OC. That is the faster path to a HC job.
And one never knows how a new head coach will work out. If Ben were to flop as a HC, the long term security for his staff is a large ? mark.
Whoever the new OC is, I still want us to be a run oriented offence.
For example, I donāt want a scheme like the Dolphins or Cowboys.
Himself.
I live in Madison and know Chryst and his family from his days at UW. Great human and great coordinator. However, there is no guessing at whatās coming when you play his offense. Heās going to run the same plays until you stop them, which worked against a lot of college teams until upper echelon teams were able to defend those plays. In my opinion, his offenses lacked creativity and balance. That said, few could develop OL like Wisconsin, took largely unheralded recruits kept them in the program for 5 years and turned them into NFL maulers great at run blocking and OK pass blockers.
Just an opinion, Chrystās offenses are too predictable and lack the explosion I would like to see us build upon and expand. I hope we would look for a younger more innovative OC, that plays to the strengths of offense we have in place. That offense places an emphasis on controlling the clock via the run and short high percentage passes, but is also aggressive taking deep shots down field, uses motion to disguise what is going on and keeping the defense off balance, thereby making it difficult to scheme against.
They actually talk about Tanner here at 23:00. Really sounds like him as the heir apparent to Ben is a done deal and that weāre confident in the results that it will bring.
Yea they have kept promoting him to new roles.
In a passing dominant nflā¦ being the passing game coordinator is extremely important.
All signs point to Tanner if BJ leaves
I also think Coach Campbell is heavily involved in offensive game planning and strategy
