I think everyone assumes we promote from within, but if we go outside does anyone have any suggestions from the outside?
I have no idea but:
- We have an opportunity to win a SB while this guy is here this year so don’t assume that his replacement will get us in the same position next year. Appreciate that what we achieved this year is not a given. Then again maybe his replacement will be even better!
- Whoever it is, I hope he’s better in the third quarter because no matter how bright a mind BJ is, opposing team adjustments have been better than his own after halftime this year.
That’s not a dig, it’s a factual observation and there is a difference. Either he’s not adjusting well, the player’s are not executing what he dials up or some combination. Part of me thinks that if you keep running the same thing and your players are not executing, then you need to run something they can as a part of being a great coach vs saying look what i drew up but because you didn’t execute it we weren’t successful. Somewhere in there is a happy medium.
I have one that has zero chance of happening but I really love. Way outside the box.
I saw an article that mentioned Frank Reich and I thought that was an interesting idea.
Who?
I assume if the Washingtons hire Ben then Eric Bieniemy becomes available. He did pretty well with Alex Smith
edit nvmd, he came after smith
Like a reverse Ted Lasso?
Let’s have fun with it. Guessing game.
He was a long time collegiate HC and is now employed by a major college football program but not as HC or OC.
You can ask any questions except what’s his name.
That was literally my first thought Frank Reich. He and Dan are close and have mutual respect for each other. I think he would be a good fit. Don’t think he gets a HC gig this time with all the big coaches out there
Nooooooo!!!
what conference was he in
Josh McDaniels would be worth considering if we don’t promote from within. He’s a terrible HC but a great OC.
Yeah no he might be a good OC but no
…if he wasn’t a puckered anus of a human.
I believe Kliff Kingsbury is the correct answer.
Last year it the Big12 and next year the SEC
His HC gigs were in the Big10 and before that the Big East before that program moved to the ACC
I know it asked for external ideas but I still think Tanner or Scottie from the current Lions staff get the position.
Already have it
Kliff Kingsbury
Nope. Think the other end of the stylistic spectrum in terms of offense
best part was I got that conclusion before you responded to the question
