Arch Manning

It is becoming increasingly evident that Arch is all name with no game.

He looks lost and confused on almost every play. He is very inaccurate and his decision making is questionable. This is his THIRD year in the program. I was really hoping he was going to be good but it’s not looking good for him. Thoughts?

I didn’t watch him yesterday, but I did watch him against Ohio State and he looked like ass.

I think he is legit terrible. He has good speed, but that’s the only talent I see. As a QB there is nothing there. His throwing motion is horrible. Phillip Rivers had that shot put style throw, but he was very accurate with it and could push the ball downfield. I do not see that with Arch, the Uncle Rico meme’s are very alive with him. His field recognition is horrible. He throws to a spot blind, and it either works or it doesn’t. Shockingly, most of the time, it doesn’t.

We all gave OSU’s defense and Patricia credit for shutting down Texas in the first game. 17/30, 170 yards, 1 TD 1 Int. Yesterday he goes 11/25, 114 yards, 1 TD 1 Int. The other 2 TD’s were rushing. Arch was SO bad, he was getting booed loudly at Texas’ stadium! It’s a little crazy, but his game basically matched the Caleb Williams MNF game where they both led 1 good drive, then had streaks where they couldn’t even complete a pass. Arch went 4/5 to open the game, then 10 straight incompletions. The difference is, Texas’ offensive talent is so vastly superior to UTEP that any simple completed pass is a threat to be a TD, which is what the SJSU game was, and Arch couldn’t even complete those. The SJSU game was his best game, and if you watch the highlights even on the completions the ball is underthrown, or receivers are waiting on it.

During the game, my buddy and I were talking about this. He said if you swapped UTEP’s QB for Arch, Texas wins by 30. I think he is spot on. Texas defense played their ass off, only to watch the offense stall time and again. Arch is going to get destroyed once conference play starts. They have one more cupcake, then SEC play starts and it hits the fan.

I saw the OSU game and that was enough. A guy riding on his name. He’s not good.

He should of played WR like his Dad did. He probably would of had a future at that position.

Seeing how bad Arch is really makes me question Sark and the QB coach tbh. Ewers never really developed at Texas and just stagnate, plus Arch has his family members and all the resources in the world to help them

Just very weird

I’m usually not one to jump the gun on young players and he certainly can and likely will improve but he looks so far from being an above average QB nevermind this generational talent future #1 NFL pick that I see no path for him to match the hype, his mechanics are horrendous to the point that it doesn’t look fixable. I also run the risk of looking stupid with this post down the line but I doubt it, he might not even make it to the end of the year as Texas’s starter as I’m sure they have a really talented backup being Texas and all.

He’s the worst starting quarterback at Texas Ive seen in 20 years.

I was not a Quinn Ewers fan at all but if you ran him out of town for this then you should be fired.

The boosters oil money is what has Manning starting. Guaranteed. They paid the man ALOT of money.

This isn’t on Arch Manning. It’s just not. No, he’s not a DI (or even DII) level QB. But it’s increasingly evident his family did him ZERO favors, as there’s no chance they didn’t fuel the hype machine. Amateur scouts had been saying for years that he faced no real competition in high school, and they were discarded because of the name plate.

There were throws in that game that virtually any legit-scouted-but-still-third-string QB would’ve hit. He couldn’t do it. He doesn’t see it, and when he does, he’s seconds late and simply can’t put the ball there.

This is more sad than anything else. This kid will go down as a generational failure, and all because of the ego of family and scouts.

Also, FWIW, “genetics” doesn’t work that way. So easy to tell when someone has failed middle school science. You could be Peyton’s son and have the same coaching around you since elementary school and still fail to throw across a street.

At the end of the day, reality always wins.

People can’t blame Arch for the expectations others put on him because of his name. He can’t help who his family is. He had unrealistic expectations placed upon him, and now people want to run him down for not meeting them. He’s just trying to enjoy his college experience and play college ball.

The name on the back of Jersey is tough to overcome.

Remember the Barry Sanders Jr. Hype. Tough shoes to fill and talk about pressure. Walter Payton’s son played RB too. At least choose a different position.

as an MSU fan i approve this message.

Feel kind of bad for the kid, the expectations from the media and the family are outrageous. Wonder how he would have done if he was treated like a normal kid.

So I think Chiles could be a pro. He is large and athletic. The question is if he can keep learning, getting better, and get more accurate. Right now he does not throw guys open often.

Arch needs time. I would not write him off just yet. He looked amazing last year. So I kind of liken him to a hitter coming up from minors last year and no one had scouted him yet. Now he needs to adjust. I am bit shocked how harsh this board gets in a college kid.

Remember his uncles played 4-5 years in college.

This family that probably knows more about quarterbacking than any family in the world understood implicitly that he really wasn’t very damn good but they could set him up for Life by cranking that name recognition and height machine up and getting him stacks of NIL to start his life with.

Any wonder they’re slow rolling this kid now that your paradigm has shifted?

You can see why he didn’t transfer out when they named Ewers the starter, that’s for sure. But I think he can kiss 1st overall goodbye.
