Are the Detroit Lions falling in love with Malik Willis?

How do you “build the rest of your team” if you’re trading away all your assets?

So Lance was running for his life like Willis had to all day erry day? I don’t remember that from his tape, but haven’t studied him in a long time. Ya sort of need TIME to process much.

That is fair… since they both had crap offensive lines and suspect play calling as well.

Running for his life? No. But a lot of that is on Willis’s poor pocket presence. And while Lance had cleaner pockets, there was plenty of tape of him having to adjust on the fly. And he was far better at it. It’s one of Willis’s weaknesses.

I feel like I’m being turned into the anti-Willis guy when all I’m trying to do is calm everyone down lol. I’ve said many times that if I was forced to draft a QB in this draft he would be it. I desperately don’t want to draft a QB because I don’t think any of these guys will pan out, but I’ll take the 10% chance that Willis becomes a stud over anything else. But I think people are so enamored with his cannon and running ability, they’re glossing over his glaring weaknesses and talking themselves into his other average traits being better than they are. That’s exactly 100% how you end up drafting a bust. Willis should scare the shit out if everyone. ESPECIALLY at #2.

He does.

In Minnesota, LOL.

That’s the catch-22. If you draft him, does he become Tavaris Jackson. If you pass on him, does he become Russell Wilson (in your own division even)?

For me that question is do you take the 10% chance he turns into Russell Wilson or the 90% chance he becomes Tarvaris Jackson. That’s based on my own evaluation an entirely subjective of course, but even if he was a flawless prospect he wouldn’t have more than a 50% chance of becoming Russell Wilson, and he’s not a flawless prospect.

Players from last draft improving.
Free Agency this year
Draft this year

FA next year
Trade three draft picks 2 firsts in23 and first from24 you still have draft picks left in 23 and 24.

Holmes comes from LA he has seen Snead process in handling picks and FA. While I have some questions on it and hope they don’t go to the level LA did…they are in the SB 2nd time in five years iirc.

Point is there are options ways to go up and get the QB in that first round. And yes I know it depends on the trades that happen this year and who else is looking for a QB.

LOL, this whole thread cracks me up. Before the Senior Bowl practices everyone on here was saying Senior Bowl won’t change anyone’s minds, teams have already did their research on these guys. They may just move a little. Everyone had him mid 1st to 3rd rd pick, hell some on here had the Lions taking him with our 3rd rd pick. Now after a couple practices he is the savior of the Lions and we should be picking him at 2 OA. SMH…well at least I got a good laugh reading this thread

To be fair, there is a thread about taking him at 2 that was started before the Senior Bowl practices started.

Willis is an interesting prospect. Brad and Co have to trust their scouts and their own instincts.

I have confidence in these guys. Small trade down and then nab Malik? Possible me thinks.

There were a couple that were trying to boost his stock over what he is (HSVLion and Richard_Parker) but the consensus at the time was everyone was hoping he would drop to the 34th pick or maybe the 32nd. It’s really simple this guy is not a #2 OA pick, there is way too much other talent in other positions to take this guy (an admitted PROJECT) at #2 OA.

But what gets me is everyone was saying Senior Bowl won’t make a difference, now they are all stating events from the damn practices of all things to justify their position. SMH…again

And you’d have more draft assets to “build your team” if you didn’t trade all your assets and took your guy now.

Aaoron rodgers sat for 3 years then signed a very friendly contract before becoming the one of the best.

Oh I know what was said.

LOL…you 4 hours ago in a different threade

"I’m with you.

Wait until the Combine and pro day when he delivers some 60+ yard throws.

I’ll say again, I don’t think ANY team is changing their opinion of him based on what WE are seeing from the Senior Bowl. Everything that is being gushed about is what’s been known of him.

Once the various teams get their time with him in interviews, the buzz will kick up another notch because, again, he’s known as a humble, thoughtful, centered individual.

What is hard to know is football IQ at this point. That’s what teams will be trying to get a glimpse of in interviews the coming days and weeks"

Lots of WR’s jumping to catch passes, Tight End had to make a one handed catch on a 7 yard out, underthrown deep balls…a couple of nice throws mixed in.
