At this point how pissed off

Will be if lions miss the playoffs.?

There is a big chance they do. Schedule is pretty rough. Washington is missing a few but lions oline is like a deer on ice . Goff may not last year.

I won’t be mad, as long as we win 13-14 games.

After last week I don’t expect the Lions to make the playoffs.

I’ve resigned myself to the fact that this just isn’t their year.

I dont see them winning more then 11. Playoffs are nice but we’ve been there done that

The sad thing is we will miss the playoffs mainly because of bad FO and coaching. Roster is stacked even with youngsters on OLINE. The biggest problem is terrible Offensive Coordinator and FO saying “we’re good”

Goodness gracious, It was 1 game, 1 game. And as BAD as they played, Minnesota still needed Special Teams and a defensive TO in plus territory to win the game. Can they miss the playoffs? Sure. Is it likely? No. Health will be their biggest hurdle. If one position group continues to get decimated with injuries, we’re screwed, but so would any other team. If we can get some guys back and STAY healthy, we’ll be alright. Teams go through funks and we’re going through ours - it’ll be alright.

We’re not as good as last year, and that’s OK. Nobody in the NFL is ‘dominating’ this year. The NFC is wide open, better to get guys back in December/January and being playing well then, than peaking right now.

I can’t understand how the front office just sat on their hands at the trade deadline with the offensive line in disarray. Very disappointing of Holmes. This is going to be a patchwork unit that will stifle the offense going forward.

It’s not just one game though.

Decker probably isn’t healthy enough to play and if he was an average player and not one with grit he would be on IR right now. Sewell is on the wrong side of questionable for Sunday. Frank retired and there wasn’t a real backup plan.

The front office clearly whiffed on the OL.

I agree on Decker but nobody could have predicted he’d be in as bad of shape as he is (during the draft and summer camp). They had a plan at OL, Mahogs showed promise and they drafted Ratledge and Frazier. Couldn’t have predicted Frazier going down either. I think they tried to address OL. Glasgow isn’t ideal at C, but you just don’t replace Frank in year 1. The plan of Decker, Mahogs, Glasgow, Rateldge/Frazier, Sewell is fine. Injuries and coaching are hurting us. That line is not lacking talent and the lack of performance for me falls on coaching (again, current injury situation aside).

As for the trade deadline, it takes two to tango. What team is giving up an upgrade at Tackle over what we have? Same for Guard? As bad as many teams want OL help, 1 guy got moved, and it was an underperforming guy at that.

Just get in the playoffs… 15 wins got us jack squat. Get in and try to get hot at the right time.

Who did we miss out on?

Trevor Penning, apparently. Savior of the Lions.

Outside of maybe the Seahawks, none of the teams that made ‘splash’ moves today have a legit shot at the Super Bowl. The Colts are a great story that are held up by a weak schedule. The Cowboys? LOLOL.

As frustrated as we all are with the OL situation, nobody was fixing it. Now, if Bitonio or a GOOD Tackle got moved for decent compensation, I’d be on the WTF are you thinking Holmes bandwagon.

Another thing not mentioned much is how complicated it is for olineman being traded mid season.

It’s not like a d-end and you just say go hunt the qb. Or a corner playing lots of man coverage.

Olinemen gotta learn an entire new playbook and it takes a lot of time to gel with the other 4 linemen. More than any other position group, the oline work as a unit.

Pretty rare to see olinemen traded at the deadline. You can rotate corners, rotate linebackers and defensive players but olinemen are almost never rotated. They play every single snap. That’s hard to do.

For example we traded for Z… He played like 20 snaps per game last year.

You make a very good point - except that Fat ■■■■ who won’t be named here rotated Guards on purpose, because, well, he’s a Rocket Scientist.

I remember that. The dumbest thing you could ever do. Any lineman would tell you that.

We will never know!

Well, we know that 30 other NFL teams, some of which have OL issues, also did not address their OL at the deadline. So I guess either the asking price was too high, the player wouldn’t have made an impact (Penning), or there was nobody else out there available.

Because surely, in all the NFL, if a OL was available for a reasonable price and would’ve made an impact, 30 other teams also didn’t sit on their hands to get one. But sure, let’s live in fantasy land where Brad sat on his hands just for funsies!
