Bears head coach Ben Johnson's contract 5 yrs $65 Million

For comparison, former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus made $6 million per year.

And that 65 mill is fully guaranteed. He could be fired in 2 years and still collects all 65 million. Hard to blame him. Insane money for a guy with zero head coach experience. Wonder what AG got?

Agree. Couldn’t pass that up from a team with many of the offensive skill position pieces in place.

Johnson’s arrival doesn’t appear to be good news for D’Andre Swift.

Yea nothing like a guaranteed 65 million to make you focus on that playoff game….

This is what I assumed was going to happen all year. Some team was going to make him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
Just how the coaching carousel turns.

Benedict playing gm lol can’t wait to see shitcago flop and he has to explain in front press

If BJ learned anything from the Lions rebuild, he should know to build the OL first before drafting your hotshot RB. Think Saquon with the Giants and Saquon with the Eagles.

At #10, Poles has to protect his running-for-his-life QB and build the foundation of their run game. I hope Poles ignores this post. :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

How many here give up 65 million out of “loyalty”? Loyalty is a funny word used when talking about anything involving the NFL.

I guess Poles is getting a 5 year extension as well. Must be all those playoff wins….

Read an article which raised an interesting question: with Johnson getting $13 Million per season as a first time head coach, what is Dan Campbell who just presided over consecutive NFC North titles, 12-5 and 15-2 records, and 2-2 in the playoffs, worth?

Here’s an excerpt:

But the most interesting part for Lions fans is that Johnson’s salary is more than Campbell is making with the Lions. According to Front Office Sports, Campbell is making $6 million in the first year of a contract extension that he signed in March 2024 and while he and general manager Brad Holmes are signed through the 2027 season, Campbell has a valid case for a raise after leading the Lions to a 15-2 record and the top seed in the NFC last season.

There’s another NFC North-related wrinkle to Campbell’s salary as Kevin O’Connell agreed to a contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings last month. Terms of O’Connell’s extension have yet to be reported but Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio suggested that Johnson’s new contract “might have been the kick both sides needed” to get the deal done.

In what world is Ben Johnson making more than DC or KOC? Oh yea, it’s the Bears. They celebrated like they won the SB when they drafted Caleb. Now they are acting like they won another SB by hiring Ben Johnson.

It was not so long ago many of us Lions fans celebrated the draft and all kinds of off the field “wins” as if it was similar to a Super Bowl win or was a precursor to a SB victory.
I am enjoying watching other orgs look lost and not the Lions.

Yea I get being a fan and I’m probably lumping everyone in with a few bears fans on twitter but damn they are over the top. What really got me was watching Hard Knocks. Poles and Eberflus, to me, acted like they had arrived when they drafted Caleb. Now they go out and pay a rookie HC in Ben Johnson like he’s Bill Parcells? Maybe Ben is the next Mcvay or maybe he’s the next Mike McDaniel. Guess we will see. Bears definitely got some talent to work with.

Ben is more of the next Marty Mornhinweg  and in the perfect city to set the bar high and take the wind in overtime!
