I really didn’t know they could interview another team’s head coach.
So, could Dallas ask for draft picks?
How does that work?

Technically, they would have to trade for him because he is in the same position. However, his contract expires next weekend so they can just wait a week and hire him then.

If this isn’t stupid enough, I just saw that the Bears have also requested to interview:
Mike Kafka - NY Giants OC. Why?? Only the Bears would look to steal a head coach from a team that literally had a worse offense than they did.
And to really top it off…
Arthur Smith - Steelers OC.

Dear God… At best this is a waste of time. If the Bears really want either of these guys, there will be no fight over them. I hate the Bears and love seeing them suffer, but good God man if you hire either one of these guys and you are truly just trying to destroy your team on purpose.

Man, I said the Bears biggest Bears hire would be Brian Flores. I’d gladly take Flores over half of the clowns they have requested to interview.

the Bears are interviewing Ben.

I think its the other way around - Ben is interviewing the Bears.

Honestly, McCarthy would be one of the better coaches the Bears have had. I don’t think he is a bad coach, just mediocre. I wouldn’t want him, but they could do worse. Didn’t Dallas win 12 games three years in a row with McCarthy?

1- Hiring McCarthy would totally be a Bears thing to do.

2- Please Baby Jesus, use your miracle powers, and keep Ben Johnson away from Chicago.

@Bols great to see you’re still alive…I was worried a first round bye and Jman’s granny in the same night might be too much for you! :joy:

McCarthy couldn’t win with a prime Rodgers. This should be good.

Accept he did win a SB with Rodgers.

He was there for 12 years with great QBs. 1 Superbowl appearance is not remotely impressive.

I hope the Bears do take McCarthy, they’ll remain middle of the road if they do…

It sort of forces Jerry to make a decision quicker. It’s only fair to McCarthy that he let him interview if he doesn’t plan to keep him.

I’m lionpile and I approve this message.

Yea McCarthys contract runs out Jan 14th, so Jerry has until then to decide to extend him otherwise once that date hits he can interview with other teams

Disagree. Super Bowl’s are hard to win.

Also, despite his immense talents the way the style of QB that Rodgers evolved to isn’t the easiest to win titles with IMO.

It would be peak DA BEARS to fire Matt Eberflus after he badly screwed up managing the clock late in a game and replace him with Mike McCarthy.
