Bears trade for Joe Thuney

How good is he now. Remember how bad kc oline was in SB. If he was good why trade him

First team All Pro the last two seasons.

KC currently $18 million over the cap, this move clears $16m in cap space.

So why did they get rid of him. I get salary cap, but there is ways to wingle in players. Seems pretty dumb. Kc might not win the west next year

This was a good move by KC. It’s better to let players go a year too early than a year too late. It frees up a lot of cap space for them and nets them a 4th round pick.

In the short term this helps the Bears, who want to avoid our 2021 season while ascending like the BNL.

Because of injuries, he had to play LT in the Super Bowl. He IS NOT an LT, but he gave it his all. He has been an elite LG the past two seasons, maybe the best in the league. This is nothing but a great move for Chicago.

So why trade him. Thats all im asking. Seems like pretty dumb by kc

Same reason they traded Tyreek. KC always moves on from their guys early, it’s an operational thing. And since Trey Smith is young and coming up for contract (they just franchised him), and since they just paid Creed Humphrey a bag, they decided to cut their losses now on the OL.

That would be awesome… for us

Yup. Hard to really have much doubt in what KC does with players. Used to be that way with the Patriots and Steelers. Great teams know when to move on from guys, even if it’s a tough decision.

Agree! He feels he has to win now short term. I just don’t think these moves will work

Improved guards will help some… But the Bears main issue was Caleb not taking easy competitions to open WR’s. Instead scrambling around and taking sacks. Improved guard play only helps if Caleb is a better decision maker. That is where Ben has his work cut out for him. Coaching up Caleb.

Lol, concern over this? Nice upgrade for the offensive line but unless Caleb turns into a franchise QB and cuts down on those poor IQ plays that he continually exhibits, they won’t be a real threat.

Calling a Mahomes sack related injury right now.

Just stupid to trade oline, when you have franchise qb. And so cheap as well. Only helps and puts kc wondering wtf.

He actually got better through out the year. Plus now the bears oline got better. Still have enough salary to keep upgrading the roster.

This is what Holmes is now doing with the Lions.
Most of his decisions have been marginal players.
Many wanted Holmes to keep Chark & Reynolds.
He was right to let major contributors Jamal Williams and Jonah Jackson go.
So far so good.
No player has left the Lions under Holmes and gone on to bigger and better production than the player that replaced them on the Lions.
This year he has major decisions on CD3, Zeitler, Barnes, Levi, Iffy and Patrick.
Hopefully Holmes makes the right decision on these players as well.

More than that it also adds leadership. Thuney has a borderline hall of fame resume. Chicago is going to be tough next season.

Saw this video earlier and thought this was a great breakdown of the concerns with Caleb. All the talent in the world, but will he take football seriously enough to be great? He just has a cocky arrogance, but not in a good way. He almost feels privileged when he speaks, like he is better than everyone else.

Not trying to hate on the kid, just the vibe I get from him. If Ben can unlock something there, he will
Be cooking with fire, if not, Caleb will continue to gave plenty of highs, but also way too many lows.

I can remember when Joe Dahl was on a top-5 Pass-Block-Win-Rate lists with Thuney. That makes Thuney old, by the way, not me. That also makes me wonder why we can have Guards that look good, score well and yet somehow are let go and never amount to anything. Glasgow, Jackson being the latest examples. Makes you wonder what would come of Awosika.
