JJ didn’t concern me.

This concerns me a bit.

But when they get Jeanty, I will actually be concerned.

Turns 33 in November but All Pro last two years.

Last year on his deal though, so might be just a one year rental.

Ben might be patching together an effective OL.

I presume an extension is incoming. He should have another three to four years of high level OG play in him if his body holds up.

It looks like the Bears finally found someone that understands the importance of having a good offensive line.

I don’t know if these moves will work out, but props to them for trying.

Puh, Bears build through the trenches? Seems they want the whole Lions way to success… could be a really tough division next season

I do hope Jeanty does not go there as I think he has a chance to be special. Thuney is also a great pick-up for them and will definitely make that line better.

With that said, Thuney is owed 16mil this year and is turning 33 years old during the season. Jonah is due almost 12mil next year. I am of the mindset that guard is one of the easiest to fill positions in the NFL and is one of the worst investments to make unless the player is truly an elite guard (Zack Martin in his prime).

Now the Bears have invested nearly 30mil in cap space to two starting guards. I just think that is an unwise investment. Ben is trying to recreate what the Lions have and does not have the patience to wait and build the right way like Campbell/Holmes did.

Makes it more likely Zeitler comes back to Detroit.

I was just going to type that.

You must be pretty smart

I’m really not.

The Jonah Jackson deal yesterday was not a good trade for the Bears. This definitely is. This one really surprises me, because Thuney was KC’s best offensive lineman last year. He is a top level guard, and played solidly at LT when they literally had no one else and Mahomes was screaming at guys on the sideline.

The Chiefs offensive line is a mess, and this makes them worse. I think they basically needed to do a heavy oline draft WITH Thuney. This now means another hole that has to be fiilled.

This news, along with Travis Kelce saying he is coming back, have been my two favorite stories for the Chiefs.

Yea that was my first reaction too… Andy must be planning to draft a bunch of olinemen. Trading away your best olinemen when you have to protect Mahomes doesn’t seem wise.

Bears are throwing money around. Thuney will help though for sure

Or going to KC.

He is definitely doing some positive things and allowing for a variety of options in the draft whether RB or OL.

So Jonah and Joe are both Left guards unless Joe is playing LT… hmmmm. Neither play on the right and Joe is way better as an OG than an OT… hmmmm

Jonah playing center?

This is a good point that they are both playing the same position. Now it makes sense. Bears traded for Jackson yesterday, then came on the forum and saw all of us laughing and saying good luck, the guy won’t finish the season. Then the Bears said “oh shit, they’re right” and went out and traded for a guy who can play a full season.

We can hope they try that. It worked out amazingly for the Rams!

Veach doesn’t like paying guys in their 30s, hence why they just let Thuney go. They have Suamataia ready to go at LG.

In any case, it appears Poles knows his days are numbered and if they don’t step it up this year with Ben he’s a goner. So getting these vets in on the OL was clearly his top priority.

They better hope he is a better guard than he was a tackle. KC has Center and RG in good spots, but they have massive problems at LT and RT. We will see how this works at LG.
