Unlike when Jamaal W was here and you pretty much knew he was only going to run the ball (sort of the anti-Theo Riddick), Montgomery is more of a dual-threat.

The Bears were too enamored with Herbert. Never gave Montgomery a chance to carry the load unless Herbert was hurt…but they wanted to continue that?
Montgomery behind our line is going to be exciting.

Im excited to see what Ben Johnson can do with a guy like him.
On a side note, I never thought Detroit fully utilized Theo Riddick well and wonder what Johnson could have done with him as well.

The problem with Riddick was that he was a 4.66 40 guy, so whenever he ran the ball, he wasn’t as effective.
However, that being said, it helps when your TE blocks for you.
Ebron wouldn’t have lasted 5 minutes with the Campbell regime.

Yup - easier to set up plays later in games “progressive play calling,” when you have full access to the playbook no matter who is in the game. While it is true that Swift has more “juice” than MontG, either can be versatile & the entire playbook should be available no matter which of them is out there.
p.s. I still wanna get a rookie stud fairly high (Gibby in the round 2?)

That is going to be fun to watch. I look at Monty’s 2020 season and I think the Lions are about to see similar production. He’s a legit dual threat back.

54 catches for 438 yards and 2 TD’s
That’s a 1500 yard back with 10 TD’s. Behind our O-line, I see that happening again.

I personally don’t think the Bears were in the running at all once the Lions came into the picture. The Bears still have the most FA money left and actually need to spend more to get above the floor for spending. He wanted out and liked the idea of having fun again.
