Bears trendline is moving up. Lions trendline is moving down, or at least flat.
Johnsen is teaching the Bears how to win. Being smart and disciplined is usually a good thing. It’s proving true again.
The Bears are one year away from having to give $400M plus to Caleb and Odunze…
One of two things is about to happen…. Bears win one vs Packers and beat 49ers and Lions is they don’t. If they lose to SF, GB once and Detroit a 2nd time…. Then what?
I’m not interested in predicting what will happen. I’m just saying they will either win 4 of the next 5 or they won’t.
The funniest part is the same group worried about the sky falling are those same posters who expected a SB run this year.
Even if the Bears back into a Division by splitting with Detroit, GB and Minny… and playing 2 other teams all year… so what? I’d expect a 1st place schedule to give them a 10-7 year at best next year.
Sooo… Chicago is part of the territory I run. Their fans mostly worship him. If they win a division in year 2? He’s getting a 275M extension. If not are they taking a QB mid to late round 1 in 2 years? Are they cutting Caleb
I have him ranked as the 17th best QB in the NFL. Anybody who thinks he’s not a top 20 QB is living in an echo chamber. He’s inconsistent as a passer but his ability to extend plays and avoid sacks is second to none. Hoping he doesn’t put it together with Ben, because that’ll be a problem.
They now have serious momentum and fair play to them for beating what was put in front of them but they have milked a fourth placed schedule and rode their luck in a number of wins neither of which can be relied upon in the medium term.
They have a sticky enough December which will give us a true barometer - but credit where credit is due they look to be rounding into form
we kind of have only ourselves to blame. Our issues with pass rush have been there for 2 years now. We went from 3 pro bowlers on the online to 1 and of the replacements, the center is playing out of position.
Didn’t hire a very good OC who was fired for doing exactly what he did here.
The jury is out on DC, but when crossers beat your ass and you don’t adjust well…that’s not a good look.
Right now, green bay and chicago are better than us, and we should be at the height of the rebuild from when brad and dan took over, but we’ve already slipped to 3rd in just the division. 5th year in and we had a great rise, but have now settled down to above average.
And an occasional field goal wouldn’t be terrible.
