I think Ben is a decent coach, but I’m not ready to anoint him as the next Bill Belichick based on one Cinderella year. Year to date they have a +29 point differential. We have a +65 point differential. They were relatively injury free while we had another disastrous year. We played a first place schedule while they played a last place schedule. I believe the Bears will come back down to earth next year and we will bounce back.
You guys fall into the same rinse and repeat formation….first it was the Rams won the trade, then it was the Lions won the trade….now we have this, Ben Johnson has the last laugh and the story has not even began, let alone concluded. When will you guys ever learn?? ![]()
When you say he tried to emulate what we did here, it was a bit too obvious in their trading away Sauce. AG was at the podium talking about the WR they received in the trade: “you are not just a “throw-in”. We wanted you and made you a part of the trade.” He was trying to catch the same plot that we had in the Goff trade.
We will see how good the Bears really are next year playing a first place schedule! The Lions just did it two years in a row.
Window looks great - NFC is weak AF, right now.
The arrogance of Lions fans after the last few years has definitely been surprising, particularly when it comes to the Bears’ success.
One would think 70+ years of nothing but being a complete laughing stock would have built up a bit more humility than that.
2.5 years of winning and a fairly significant portion of this fanbase seems to think that their
doesn’t stink.
I’ve got a feeling that the next 10 years of Ben Johnson + Caleb Williams is going to be quite the reminder.
I mean, I hate the Bears almost as much as the Packers (and hate their fans 10x more)
But there was a thread about “We’re not really worried about the Bears” just before Tday saying how they were gonna fall apart down the stretch and we were going win out or win all but one and like 90% board agreed.
Meanwhile, we lose at home as the favorite on TDay and then proceed to drive off a cliff and they just kept winning.
Honolulu Blue colored glasses are definitely not about seeing clearly.
There are some legitimate underlying metrics on how sustainable this year is going forward. Credit to them for winning this year, credit to Ben.
I really didn’t know how good Ben would be as a head coach, running a team, that was hesitation on him. Big step forward this year, now, he needs to keep it going.

Yep. It’s only been one year. But he did a great job and people should have the ability to acknowledge that.
Where it goes from here? Who knows. But there is a chance they could be better next year. Or they could fall off because of the 1st place schedule.
Time will tell
Well, not just the first place schedule can they improve the point differential? Will they continue to get the turnovers and last minute heroics to win games?
I won’t be shocked if Williams gets better but he has much to improve on from this year to next year. That is acknowledging he improved this year as well.
Ben is still laughing
And the people here that said the Bears would be one and done are wrong again
The Bears won a playoff game so they have a deeper run than Dan’s last appearance in the playoffs where we got absolutely crushed in the 1st game we played.
But I know, I know. The Bears came from behind again so this playoff game win is just luck and should not count ![]()
Yep, Ben did a great job. I find myself actually rooting for them in these playoffs….to a point.
Vs the Packers? Uh, HELL YEAH
Vs the Eagles/Rams? Probably
Vs Seattle or SF? Nah.
I don’t want them to win the SB but I respect the job they have done this year.
Exactly
What Ben has done there this year has been unbelievable
Anyone that can’t admit that doesn’t understand football or is delusional

I wanted Ben to fail but I don’t know how you can deny the results. Now, do I think they’ve gotten lucky a lot, yes. Do I think what they’re doing is sustainable, no. But can the Bears get better and not have to be so lucky at the end of games, yes.
All I know is if I was a Bears fan I’d already be erecting a statue of Ben outside of Soldier Field.
Youve known me a long time Jaded, ive never been a make excuses guy. I think Ben Johnson is a good coach and has done a great job. I also think the biggest problem for the Lions has been the interior o line and the inability to properly protect goff and establish the run snd play action. How many more wins do you think they have if they have a healthy ragnow at centre and a decent left guard? Hell and maybe Decker at 80%. Because i think it gets them 3 or 4 more wins easily. Even with Morton calling plays and Campbell, I bet thid would be the #1 offence in the league. Watching the Lions be garbage for 30 years and thrn suddenly get good, has taught me o line and d line are everything in this game.
2 things can be true: Ben Johnson can be a good coach and The O line can be dogshit this year. It was literally the strength of the team and became a weakness. I think if they fix it this offseason, no one will be worried about Dan and pining for Ben Johnson.
Ragnow alone gets them the division title.

He took a team with a weak roster and a weak QB from worst to first in a tough division. Then won a payoff game.
People can hate him all they want, and he does come off as a dick, but the Man can coach.
I’m still gonna get behind my prediction when Ben took the job and started building the O-line, which was:
- Ben is going to inject life into the Bears and they are going to have a great year. What i didn’t plan on is ongoing divine intervention, but when you’re charmed, you have to take advantage of it and they certainly are.
- We are going to go through a transition year and are going to have a down year.
But both things will turn around in year two.
Look at KC - all those one score wins became one score losses. I sure hope we nail the OC role and take off again next year.
Congrats to Ben and the Bears, I found myslef rooting for them - but only against the Packers (and maybe the Rams if SF upsets Philly).
Ben wins one more game and he matches the success of Dan/Brad in the playoffs. You know, the only thing that really matters. Dont think his ego will be as big though. Our guys really think highly of themselves.

Yes and no
The’ve had a damn good season and they knocked out the Pack
BUT I never trust teams that come out of nowhere. Seems like they always regress to being themselves
Who knows, maybe Ben is different. Next season will be telling
