Could be a calf sprain. He’s not holding his knee so that’s a good sign.
Ian Rapoport
#Bengals coach Zac Taylor tells reporters that QB Joe Burrow suffered a calf strain — which is much better news than several alternatives. Have to imagine this takes him off the field for the preseason. TBD on a timeframe.
In a money year….shoooot.
Grade 2 calf strain is a six week recovery according to the Googles. That’s the most common type of strain
Grade 1 and he’s still walking witn some sharp pain
Grade 3 is a worse tear and it’s a 3-6 month recovery
Schefter tweet:
July 26, 2022: Bengals’ QB Joe Burrow had an appendectomy.
July 27, 2023: Burrow carted off the practice field with what Bengals’ HC Zac Taylor called a calf injury.
July 28, 2024: Burrow limped off the practice field with what Bengals’ HC Zac Taylor called too much taco bell last night.
Those are the kind of injuries that just linger and linger if you don’t let them heal.
did he limp rapidly straight to the toilet?
Unconfirmed on the speed of the limp. Sometimes it’s best to squeeze the cheeks and waddle to the bathroom and other times you don’t make it and just let loose on the practice field behind the equipment shed. I may or may not have experience in this area.
otherwise known as the Chalupa trot
Even our Astronauts back in the day had to pass their version of the Chalupa trot.
Just ask Mr. Gonzales.

Pshaw.
I’m thinking more like:
July 28, 2024: Joe Burrow encased in bubble wrap.

The coaches have been told that Joe Burrow has a calf strain, per sources. Early signs are good it’s not worse than that. Which isn’t ideal but much better than it looked on video.
Sat, 7/29: While Taylor still refused to budge on the phrasing of “several weeks” in an interview today with Pelissero, the vibe around camp seems a bit less cautious. “Several weeks” could indicate that Burrow’s recovery could carry into the regular season, causing him to miss a few games, but Pelissero’s colleague Ian Rapoport reports that, in Cincinnati, “there doesn’t appear to be concern” about the star quarterback being ready for Week 1.
