Best Thanksgiving Game Memory?

Mine is the 1994 flea flicker from Krieg to Moore. Set us up for a great game.

The early 90’s games where Barry, Spielman, and Ball would get turducken legs.

Thanksgiving Day

Brett Favre and the Packers in town

Get stoned at 9:30am before heading to the big game!!

Arrive in Pontiac, MI wondering why the traffic was so light and the parking lot was empty

Buddy and I simultaneously realize that the Detroit Lions don’t play at the Silverdome anymore

They have a new home called Ford Field in DETROIT!!!

Make it to game on time

Lions Win 22-14

It was a good day…

Funny.

I went to the heads-tails game. That was a decent game and part of a pretty awesome Thanksgiving Day in general.

My favorite was the Titans vs Lions Thanksgiving game in 2008.

I was broke as a joke living out in AZ and working as a musician. I had no money. None. My friends and family chipped in and surprised me with a ticket home for Thanksgiving + a ticket to the game. It was one of the coolest surprises/gifts I’ve ever received. I was so excited.

My friends and I tailgated for a bit and then decided it was time to head over to Ford Field. We were pumped up and ready to go. Surely the Lions would turn things around on Thanksgiving and give Detroit fans a win.

The ball was being kicked off just as we entered Ford Field. We decided we’d have time to grab some beverages before heading to our seats.

1:20 into the game Chris Johnson had already put up 7 for the Titans. We heard that happen as we were getting in line.

The Lions roared back and put up a long field goal as I was waiting in line for ordering my beverage. Go Lions.

2 minutes later, Chris Johnson and the Titans put up 7 more. I paid for my beverage as this happened.

We made our way to our seats and shortly after sitting down the Titans put up 7 more.

It was 21-3, Titans, just as we were finally taking our seats.

Only the 2008 Lions could be down 21-3 by the time you even get around to taking your seat. Fans everywhere started to pull their bags out to place over their heads. It sounded and felt like a funeral…not a Thanksgiving party lol.

It was a Thanksgiving memory I’ll never forget. It’s about as Lionsy of a Thanksgiving game as one could ever ask for and I got to enjoy it live, in person.

Thank you for all the wonderful memories, Lions.

Best thing I ever witnessed on Thanksgiving was easily the game Peyton Manning tossed 6 TDs on us. It looked like they were playing catch our there with no defense on the field, quite impressive.

The best pro-Lions memory I have was the game that Dre Bly made Brett Favre his bitch, and single handedly picked that game off.

The best memory in general is probably the Millen-man march, where the fans showed up to the game wearing orange for the Bengals. It’s ultimately didn’t do anything, because Ford be Ford, but seeing all of the Lions fans standing up together to voice their displeasure is when you see how passionate Detroit sports can be. Especially Lions fans.

All the ones I got to watch with my brother before he died. When we win the big one, I know he’ll be laughing his ass off somewhere.

Literally one of the worst games ever. You may have enjoyed it more in person because from the stands you probably couldn’t see Lendale White laughing in the Lions’ faces as he trucked their entire defense.

There was an element of sarcasm to that being my “favorite” for sure lol.

It was one of those things that was so bad, that was such a train wreck, that you just kind of find yourself laughing.

I was like…“Thanks guys. Appreciate you flying me home + buying me a ticket so I could witness this in person!” :joy: :joy: :joy:

Of course, the trip and seeing friends and family was incredible, but the Lions gotta be the Lions.

I went to coingate as well, never understood what Bettis was so upset about until I got home that night and saw the news. Fun game.

My favorite was also my first: T’Day 1962, when the undefeated Packers under Vince Lombardi came into Detroit and got clobbered. Don’t remember the score but I do remember that Lions defense owned the Packer offense. It would be the Packers’ only loss that year as they went on to win the NFL Championship. (This was prior to the Superbowl.)

Sad to say, it’s been all downhill from there, although I have to say that the Barry Sanders years were pretty special.

Can’t remember what year but it was Barry having a great rushing day against the Bears. I don’t remember if it was Ford field or the Silverdome

Do they still do those turkey legs? Or was it a madden thing.

I dont know

23 Nov 1989 - we beat the Browns 13-10 … our QB for that game?

Bob Gagliano!!

Why?

I had joined the AF and was at my first base overseas: Bitburg AB west Germany and its was my first one outside Michigan and the country I got to watch on AFN!! I was cool watching my team from another country!

Manning could have easily thrown for 10 TDs against that defense if Dungy hadn’t backed off.

He had all those TDs before the end of the 3rd, and they had already drastically changed their offense to not run up the score.

Me too… Peyton Manning throwing 6 TDs in 3 quarters… He had a hell of a year.

just had too!

I wanted to leave at the end of the third but I was with my brother who has always been a huge Colts fan and we stayed to see Jim Sorgi lol.
