Right now I’ve look at all the odds for TEAM TO DRAFT WHICH POSITION FIRST
For the entire league, #1 most likely to happen according to the gambling odds is
DETROIT LIONS to draft DLINE -200
TEXANS to draft Offensive Line -195
JAGUARS to draft DLINE … -125
RAIDERS to draft RUNNING BACK… -120
Looks like a lock for a DT or DE to go us our first pick. The only other player I can see as a realistic option is Donovan Jackson. Lions to go OL +225
If we have a WR graded above available DLine, don’t be surprised.
Even Hutch and Sewell were the best players available. That’s how Brad and Dan do it.
We didn’t need Gibbs with Swift, Monty, Reynolds, and Jefferson. 90% of this board had a coronary!
Same can be said for Campbell.
I don’t think Jamo will be here in two years.
We needed some juice on offense. When you want to be a bully you must have CBs that tackle, WRs that block, and you can’t have guys like Swift looking for the sideline instead of the first down marker.
If I was still a gambling man I would lay the shit out of that bet. Brad could easily draft CB, S, OL or WR in round 1. Anyone that thinks Brad is locked into D-Line hasn’t been paying attention.
If I add Z to our D-Line, it starts to look substantially better. Yes, I believe that Z resigning is a probability more than a possibility. That doesn’t mean I do not want to take D-Line help early and often, but it does give Brad the flexibility to go in almost any direction in the draft.
We have heard that they are “excited” with their D-Line. To me that makes me think that they have found a way to keep Davenport healthy when he is on the field, Z is coming back, or they are much higher on their depth than I am. Of note, I like our defensive depth players. But I view them as mostly limited to, oddly enough, defensive depth players. Additionally, if I expect to see marked improvement, I would think it would be coming from the DBs and not the DL.
Regardless, I am going to continue to believe that Brad is going to do Brad things. He will take the most talented guys that profile as Lion players. My guess, an Edge and DT in the first two picks because that is where the value will be and he isn’t going to turn away talented players at impactful spots.
I like the -200 DE/DT because it also covers us if Brad trades up, which he loves to try to do. If he does, I can only think it will be for a DL player he covets.
