Bijan Robinson vs Jahmyr Gibbs

JSN had FIVE catches in 2022. He’s only had 1 season of production at the college level. He’s a #2 WR on most teams. He’s not big, not fast, drop rate is good, not elite.

His “best case scenario” is ARSB. His worst case is just another #3 receiver that catches 50 balls for you.

Still going Bijan. His contact balance, ability to break tackles is unparalleled in the draft.

He’s a perfect Swift replacement with the ability to run routes even split wide, yet has terrific vision, latteral movement and is a better RB than Gibbs.

The value is plenty good. He would make about $500,000 a yr more than Swift, and doubles up the Montgomery role if Montgomery was to get injured.

You get clearly a top 3 talent in the entire draft. Sorry, Spears, Achane etc aren’t in the top 20 in the draft. I see lots of excuses to pass, this guys almost as good etc. No one in the draft is as good, and sorry there is indeed a gap. Gibbs has great attributes in some ways, but not all around like Bijan. Same wuth Spears, etc. We’re again, talking $500,000 more a yr than Swift, $3 mill a yr cheaper than Mintgomery, and if he hits around $12 mill a yr cheaper than the top backs. So a steal at $3 mill per assuming he hits. Which is far better than a wasted pick that we recoup say a 5th rd pick on.

Gibbs, on the other hand, is an ELITE RB.

Had the most rushes AND receptions for Alabama this year. 4.36 speed.

Now THAT’S a workhorse back!

So basically you haven’t watch him "Best case scenario " is ARSB , well that’s a pretty good case I would say. Lol

Ranked behind Bijan, and doesn’t have the contact balance or ability to break tackles of Bijan by any stretch of the imagination

That sir is the fallacy……

Right now there seems to be a decent chance that Jalen Carter become a stud, and an equal chance he doesn’t love the game enough to put in the work…. Loafing in practice and showing up on Sundays barely works for QBs, let alone DTs…

You might be right that there’s a gap, but I think it’s more or less irrelevant. Saquon is the best back in his class, but has he had more of an impact that Chubb? The Eagles took Saquon’s understudy the next year (Miles Sanders in the 2nd) and they’ve had the best running game in the league since they added him. Zeke took the league by storm, but has he been better than Henry? Has McCaffrey been better than Cook? Probably, but what did the Panthers get out of it.

Bijan is not necessary for us to have a dominant rushing attack. We can lead the league in rushing with Tyjae/Gibbs/Abanikanda/Bigsby/Evans and DMont and Swift.

If Saquan stayed healthy he’s far and away worth it.

As to not winning with these backs, I can say the same with Herbert and his 500 record or a littany of good players on bad teams, it doesn’t move the needle at all.

Is the Lions offense better with an elite back than it is with a good back is the question. It’s an easy answer

Better put……

Brian Branch- I expect he will be a 100 tackle… 3 ints… 2-3 sacks DB - I see Hufanga as a comp

Bijan Robinson- I expect 1,250 yards rushing and 459 receiving and 10 tds…. Edge comp

Tyree Wilson- I expect 8-10 sacks and 70 tackles- cam Jordan comp

JSN- I expect 110 catches for 1250 yards and 7 tds- a better than Keenan Allen comp

W Anderson- I expect 10-14 sacks- a D Hunter comp

Jack Campbell- I expect 140 tackles with 2 sacks and 2 ints a year- Paul Poszluszny comp

  • any of these guys could easily live up to these results and will be looked back at as home run picks when they do.

if he carries 250 times/game, we will win games by 200 points!
We won’t even need a QB!

I like that argument, but you have way more faith in Anderson than me. I think he’s to small, to weak, doesn’t have the array if pass rush moves, and isnt a hand fighting ninja.

He’s a speed guy, and Wright absolutely stoned him the entire game. I think if he’s an edge, he’s gonna have issues with pro OTs.

I do think you can scheme some plays for him, but i don’t think he’s going to be an elite edge in the pros

I even see the Edge comp for Bijan, mine is LT for a comp

This is where we disagree. The Giants have gone and are going nowhere with him, healthy or not.

That has nothing to do with Saquan, it has everything to do with the team.

The Panthers went nowhere with McCaffery. The 49ers made the trade to get him. They are a favorite to win it all

They were a favorite before they traded for him. They made the NFC Championship when led by Elijah Mitchell last year. They made the Super Bowl with Mostert. McCaffrey isn’t the reason they’re a favorite. Sure they still traded for him, but they were already a Super Bowl favorite before that.

Oh i agree with all that, but the point is they wanted the elite back and traded for it even on a 2nd contract.

How do you possibly comp Bijan to LT? If that is your comp I can see why you are banging the table but LT is the elite of the elite.

I know I am not Bijan fan but my comp for him is more of a good all around back but great at nothing, kinda of like Matt Forte.

Im not the only one, look at his running style, look at LT, throw in the all around game, jump cut, contact balance, vision, you see it

That was my comp for Bijan as well. I don’t think he has the breakaway long speed LT had, but they are very similar otherwise.

He’s going to go on the top 10.

He would be PERFECT for Seattle. Due to all of their offensive accolades last year people have forgotten that they don’t have a go to high volume pass catcher.

If Terry Fontenot has huevos he’ll do it. I get the Millen angle but if you really do want to give Ridder a fair shake it’s the best pick.

Chicago? Philly? :man_shrugging:

I’ll be surprised if JSN make it past ten.
