He’s ok but I think he’s mostly a product of that oline. Edwards is running like a beast behind it too.
He’s not dropping much bc of a meniscus injury. Still a mid second day pick I’d guess.

Are stud college players insured for injuries which would prevent them from being drafted and making life changing $$$??? Granted I’m not in the business but Crom was what??? Maybe a first round pic? Talking maybe a 7 figure signing bonus? That’s serious money. I think college football players should have insurance. purchased on their behalf. - insured against expected future earnings. Take Kenny Walker last year who sat out the Bowl game for MSU. I don’t blame him.
Now I believe BC was hurt in the Illinois game - ? - might be cost prohibitive to insure them for every game. Gotta do something for them.
Currently it’s cheap labor in a billion dollar industry.
Blake Corum in the 4th or 5th round would be AWESOME! Low risk, high reward!!
Blake was probably late 2nd or early 3
No probably late 4th.
I don’t know if he drops much….
may depend on what the physicians think based on how much damage was done.
If he has a simple meniscus trim and is able to start his workouts in a month… he may be able to do the combine testing and it won’t have much impact at all.
If he has a significant tear that is repaired with sutures to preserve the meniscus…. it will slow his rehab significantly and he may not be able to do the combine workouts. This would be similar to the timeline AP had when he missed 13 games in 2016.
Also… maybe the injury combined with some sizable NIL money keeps him at UofM for another year???
I would assume this is only true if it is an extended recovery of 3 months or more.
This is already something that happens. It depends on who you are and what school you are at though. Being Leonard Fournette at LSU is going to be different than being a pro prospect at a smaller school in a different conference and state.
Everyone should remember what happened to Jake Butt. He was able to cash in on some insurance money due to what happened to him. He had total disability insurance combined with loss of value insurance. He was able to cash in on the loss of value portion of the policy. Now…I’m not sure how much if anything that U of M picked up on Jake’s premiums back then. But its pretty common now for the schools to pay for the premiums for their top athletes. And the NCAA has slowly started relaxing the rules allowing more help.
Sounds like he fits the culture, for sure!
Thank you. I didn’t know that.
ESPN Gameday just had a segment on UofM, and Pete Thanel brought up the possibility of Corum returning with a massive NIL deal. I think the deep pockets of the boosters might make it happen.
They need him badly, they played a couple of games ago w 2 guys injured at that position. The guy taking the snaps at RB was a walk on from WI that looked like he might have weighed 175 lb’s soaking wet. Played like it to
It’s incredible how bad college teams can be at building depth when you consider they have 85 scholarship guys on roster
If you were a RB worth a chit, would you be content sitting 3rd string? Depth in todays transfer world is having 2 quality RB’s.
That’s not depth no matter how you spin it. Teams allocate 5-7 scholarship spots to the RB position. Transfer out means you find a transfer in & still have depth. If you don’t someone isn’t doing their job
Blake is really good but he’s kind of redundant with Jamaal Williams. Swift is the guy I’d rather replace.
If you believe teams are capable of having and keeping 5 RB’s deep, well, we agree to disagree.
This is actually possible with the new NIL deals. Let’s say Corum falls in the draft because of the injury to like round 5. The Lions drafted James Mitchell in round 5 last year. Mitchell got a four-year deal worth $3.9 million with a $285,548 signing bonus. He’s making under 1 mill per season, NIL’s could easily be more and it’s a shorter season.
Didn’t the backup RB have over 200 yards rushing last week vs OSU!?
Williams is also a free agent and will be entering year 7 next year.
3-4 for sure out of 5-7 scholarships allocated, if you can’t do that. You got a position coach or recruiting staff problem when the 3rd guy in is a 175 pound guy that isn’t serviceable
He did, he’s a player for sure
Kind of misleading when they were on 2 long runs. Not that I don’t like long runs, but it’s not like he was good for 7 yards a carry any time we needed it.
