I don’t think people really understand how Mike Brown views precedent. He was never going to do something that he thinks might lead players to be more likely to make a stink to get their demands met unless it was a knock your socks off kind of offer. He has talked about this type of thing many times before.
Flacco has been money. Hell alot of his incompletions were drops that were good passes. And some of his throws against the Steelers were crazy good. The Browns truly are the stupidest franchise in the NFL. lol Tomlin was pissed over the Flacco trade and after catching an L I’m sure he’s even madder lol. Like how does the GM in Cleveland still have a job?
Because the owner is the real GM. They were more concerned about getting Shadeur to backup than they were trying to win. Cleveland doesn’t have the offensive talent and just figured they will go young. Credit to Cincy, I said the move made zero sense for them. Cincy obviously saw that they needed a QB who isn’t scared to throw it to their WR’s no matter what. Flacco gives them that, and it got them a win. Can’t ask for more there.
Edit: To be fair, I am not saying Cleveland’s GM is good, but they did have a really solid draft. The Mason Graham trade down was a great move. Schwesinger is a great LB. That defense is elite, but the offense is comically bad.
Was a great move by the bengals and I liked it when they did it. Browning had a great run 2 years ago but hasn’t been the same. I live close to Cincinnati so I’m a fan and a follower of the team…..but Cleveland trades the opening day starter to a division rival and he immediately makes an impact. And then, they have Gabriel throw 52 passes and run Judkins 13 times. Just insane. But hey I hope Myles Garrett is happy. Team stil sucks but he got paid.
Hey now it’s been six games at a position he just started playing last year, give it some time. He was never gonna be an instant impact guy. Of course now he’s hurt and might miss the rest of the year.
I actually think since our game it’s been showing signs of marked improvement. Amarius Mims was a star against Watt Thursday, and it really looks like they’ve found something in Jalen Rivers. Karras and Orlando Brown look like their weakest links now, which is saying something. I think an NFL line can be serviceable if those guys are your weakest links rather than your best starters.
They’ve still got issues at RG. Fairchild is flashed but is a little to inconsistent to trust (to be expected of a rookie), Risner is a jag and Patrick just came off the injured list last game, but had won the starting job before that.
Anyway I don’t think it’s great overall, but for the first time in forever it looks like they’ve found something in Mims and Rivers.
Eh, I get it. They weren’t going anywhere with Flacco this year, why not see what you’ve got in the young guys? If they make you worse on the whole, so be it, you get set up with a better draft pick (and they’ve got two 1st rounders) and can take your QB of the future next year. Yes, you’re throwing in the towel on the season, but I actually think more teams should do that. I think the Saints should have done it for like the past 7-8 years, but they keep on spending money instead, staying in this so-so purgatory.
I AM surprised that they traded him in division, but I doubt they were teeming with offers.
If they arent winning this year, they arent, why should they be worried about trading a 40 year old guy in division? Not like he will come back to haunt them when it matters.
