Brad looking for a DE, per Dianna Russini

Well I think they probably didn’t, in the end. I just always think a team would prefer to trade outside their division first, but maybe I’m wrong about that.

Interesting. Coverage and rush go hand in hand so it would make sense given the injuries in secondary and inconsistency in rush at times.

Although I will say Rush has given better sack #’s than I expected

Quit ■■■■■■■ off and trade for Trey and win a Superbowl already…

I would love Trey but Bengals aren’t giving him up. With their upcoming schedule, there’s a good chance they can be in 1st place and all in this year until Burrow comes back. Never say never, but I highly doubt they ship Trey unless they lose their next two games. Home against the Jets and Bears.

There is a %.000000001 chance of it happening, but I’m hoping Crosby demands a trade (he won’t).

The chances for Trey are far higher than Crosby, and that’s already a minimum. Even if the Raiders decided they wanted to trade Crosby, the fact he already signed a big number extension for multiple years means you’d be picking between him or Hutch, and you’d also be losing a Branch or someone similar.
Trey has a 30 million dollar a year contract but it’s only for this year. You can sign him long term for whatever you can get him to agree to and make a deal that fits the franchise. That’s why I think he was our best option.

The Lions will be shopping for something similar as last year, either a pure rental or a guy on a deal expiring after next year. They can’t really get anyone for long term because our cap really gets crazy beginning in 2027.

I’m not a cap guy at all, but any chance we could swing Crosby and Hutch while losing Branch?

What about Granderson and Hutch and losing Branch assuming the Saints would trade Granderson?

Wouldn’t we rather have someone long term if we give up draft capital than a most likely rental in Hendrickson? Or am I not thinking through this correctly?

I am not a cap guy either, but Granderson is absolutely doable. I would take him in a second. He is only 28, he is 6’5 261 (basically identical to Hendrickson) and he signed a very reasonable extension in 2023 for 4 years. That gives the Lions a ton of flexibility.

This is techinally not true.

If the Lions or any team traded for Maxx Crosby…

and didn’t want to pay him the $30.78 million he is due to earn in 2026…

I am fairly certain they could work out a decent trade for another team to take him at that salary… and there would be ZERO dead money to do so.

Crosby would likely require more compensation to acquire because he is younger and has 4 more years remaining on his contract…

but a team acquiring Crosby would also then have more leverage to trade him after the 2025 season.

Fun fact… the Raiders guaranteed Maxx’s 2026 salary, and his 2027 salary becomes guaranteed on the 3rd day of the league year this offseason. However… they didn’t use a large signing bonus or option bonus in the structure… which actually leaves the door open for the Raiders to trade him with a VERY SMALL DEAD CAP HIT
in the neighborhood of $5.1 million for 2026! :eyes:

Wow I didn’t know that. Well I doubt it happens because Crosby and the Raiders are made for each other, but I’d love it. Crosby is someone that single handedly wrecks gameplans. He and Hutch together would be unstoppable. Both guys are full hustle guys. Myles Garrett may be the superior talent, but I’d love to watch Crosby and Hutch together.

So this was crazy. For those who didn’t see it, when Burrow tore his toe ligaments, the Bengals did not have a cart to help him off the field. He was walked off the field, and down to the locker room.

When we played the Bengals, and Terrion Arnold got hurt, he was carted off the field. The cart, was a Lions themed cart. Which means, the Lions actually brought their own medical cart to the game. I am glad they came prepared but good God Bengals…

What about Bradly Chubb? Dolphins might have a fire sale.

Just checked google apperently a lot of teams are calling about Chubb.

It’s funny, I was just looking him up too. I’d take Chubb. Right size, 11 sacks last year, not extremely expensive. I like Bradley Chubb way more than I like Jaelen Phillips if I am shopping for Miami guys.

Its not just his stats of 11 sacks. Which I’m suprised it’s not more. Chubb is a great player. He’s a legit number 1 guy. He was tearing it up in Denver.
