QB: Goff- 3 years pro bowler
LT: Sewell- 4 yrs All Pro
C: Cade Mays- 3 yrs plus starter
RG: Rat- 3 years plus starter
RT: Blake Miller- 5 years will be plus plus starter
WR1: Ra- 3 years All Pro
WR2: Jamo- 4 years plus plus starter
WR3: Isaac Teslaa- 3 years plus starter
RB1: Gibby- 5 years w/extension, All Pro
That is 9 of 11 starters on offense that are all 26 or younger and locked up for 3 or more years.
DE1: Hutch- 5 years All Pro
DT1: Mac- 3 years plus starter
DT2: Tyliek- 4 years… ???
DE2: D Moore- 4 years… ???
LB1: Campbell- 5 yrs w/ext… All Pro
CB1: Arnold- 3 years…. ?
FS1: K Joseph- 4 years… All Pro
CB2: DJ Reed- 2 years… plus starter
That’s 8 starters on D, and 7 are here for 3 plus with only Reed being a 2 year, and Reed is the only one over age 26!!!
so really we need 5 starters, and we can assume that two of those spots will held by Laporta (week one) and Branch (week 8?) leaving us only 3 spots to really worry about
LG- Mahogany/Scruggs/Bartch/Borom
LB- Barnes/Rolder/Clark/Rodrigo
NB- McCreary, Abney, Rakestraw
So we have proven nfl players in their primes and familiar with our system, along with your mid round picks to compete at each spot..
Even TE has Wright and Conklin, and SS has Maddox and Iziem, and DE has Wonnum
Brad has really managed to build a helluva depth chart while keeping youth and contract length in mind…
I expect we extend Gibby, Jack, and one of Branch or Laporta knowing we will replace the other early next year with a vet and a high draft pick.
Good enough to win a SB. A lot more than roster development has to go right for that to happen, though. Schemes gotta be very strong. Need injury luck.
But I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what these guys can do in the fall.
To be fair Kerby was solid but out spectacular in 23’, and was opportunistic at times but often a liability on 22’-
So in 2024 he was an absolute stud… and unfortunately we paid him to be, and that was Brads second real mistake with salary cap in my opinion.
We paid Mac 90M coming off an injury DT that had a career high 5.5 sacks, and paid him like a Jeffrey Simmons level player. We watched Kerby post a 90 rating and 9 picks…
Realistic probability was that he would regress somewhat in 25’, and not have 8-9 picks again. Had he had 4-5 and posted a 75 rating on a 9-8… I doubt his FA contract would have been much larger- or we could have franchised him in 2026 for 20M- his current AAV… or he gets hurt and we get a way better deal?
Now is time to pay one more vet edge or LB, and see how season starts. If Jack looks like an all pro- extend him around week 5-6
If Laporta looks great early season… maybe a 4 yr 68M deal?
If Branch is Branch upon return… pay him at a slight discount and prep to cut Kerby next year if he’s not back to himself
The defense is going to have significant holes and I don’t think we have the defensive coaching to overcome those holes. So I hope I’m wrong but my expectations are not as high as they once were for this team.
