Breaking down 'haul of young talent' acquired by Detroit Tigers at 2024 trade

Several of these guys are in the Tigers Top 25 prospects.

What does that say about the Tigers own system before they arrived?

Not surprisingly, the Tigers shed 3 of the 5 highest salaries on this years roster. Flaherty was tied for the 2nd highest at 14 mill. Canha was 4th with 11.5, and Chafin was 5th at 4.75.

The highest paid Tigers right now…

Baez at 25 mill - lowest ops in MLB.

Maeda at 14 mill - highest era in MLB.

Miggy at 8 mill - retired

That’s kind of embarrassing

That’s awful.

Miggy is still getting 8 mill? That’s crazy. 8 million to drink beer on the beach… excellent gig.

How long do we pay him for?
He has been stealing money for at least five years.

That’s a good question.

I don’t know.

I guess we had a team option to pay him $30M this year or buy him out for $8M. Looks like nothing else beyond this year.

Well that’s good then I guess.

Thanks for the info.

Not sure I saw this but never responded.
Liranzo is the one guy who slotted into the top ten.
The bottom 10-13+ prospects in the top 25 rotate a lot in most organizations.
Montalvo is intriguing now that he is with the Tigers pitching coaches, can they get him to take another step forward.

Tiger system was top tier prior to these trades at the deadline last year.
