It’s broader than TX, AL went a similar route for a players eligibility, different situation but local judge ruled in their favor. Pavia sued on eligibility status as well but that went up the federal court.
This gives some information on the timeline so even if he loses he will have played the season.
The bigger question imo is what happens if he plays?
Lets say TT goes to the playoffs and gets to qtr finals, they lose. The following year the hearing finally happens and he loses, does TT vacate wins? Does the NCAA, or CFP, have the ability to deny them access to the playoff for playing him? How will the other non big12 schools feel about this? Has the Big12 made a statement regarding this?

I heard two guys on the Sirius college channel, national reporters maybe Dan Wolken and one other guy I can’t recall. They both said this is for Lubbock county only but didn’t really clarify what impact that has on the situation.

That’s what makes text conversations interesting. Sometimes what I’m thinking doesn’t resonate with how others see it.
It’s just funny how so many things boils down to money.
So basically as long as you break the rules close enough to a season (or have it discovered close enough to the season) such that an appeal does not have time to make it through the system you’re good? All you need is a friendly local judge. Am I understanding the situation correctly?

Yeah we’ve seen some doozies over the years…shit I bet you could take Angel Hernandez from behind the plate and put him on the bench and he would make better calls that some of these guys
That is how it is coming across, know how to work the system to your benefit. Nothing new when it comes to the judicial system.
Gambling on your own team has always been the line in the sand you don’t cross until now. What I think will be interesting to watch is the conference stance on this, other teams that play them out of conference stance as well, but really the conference. TT has put the conference in a bad spot here and the above msg was hopeful. That could do more to determine the future with regards to a player eligibility when it comes to the gambling issue than the courts.

I actually watch some courtroom stuff sometimes. There’s a Judge David Fleischer in Texas. He does a great job explaining the law and it’s complexities. The Sovereign Citizen cases that come in front of him are pretty crazy.
