The Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions have agreed to the following trade:
Browns receive:
2022 undisclosed draft pick
Lions receive:
QB David Blough
2022 undisclosed draft pick
Blough was signed by the Browns this year as an undrafted free agent. He completed 25-of-43 passes for 271 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions this preseason.
The pick is in 2022, who knows where we’ll be or they are. BFD IMHO.
The way I see this is, the Lions like him better than Perez, the guy they got now. So, by doing this the Lions deny any other team from claiming him waivers on Sunday (assuming he gets cut, which is very likely), and putting him on their PS. So, the Lions carry him on their active 53 until after the Arizona game, at which time they can cut him and re-sign somebody more useful, shall we say. Sure, a team can claim him then but that means they have to carry him on their active 53 for 3 weeks, and I don’t see that as likely. We then sign him to our PS squad as our 3rd QB. The upshot of all this is that we have him on our team instead of him being on someone else’s PS for the next few weeks, and he has that much extra time to learn our offense.
