Budda Baker, anyone?

I kind of like this deal

Culturally? Sure. Schematically? Don’t think so. Not unless you move Branch back to the slot. I also think Baker is:

A: a player in decline

B: Very expensive

C: requiring significant draft capital

Thanks, but no thanks.

Why would BAL do this?

I don’t think a slot fixes the defense. He’s also having a down year and rumors out of Philly suggest that he’s partying a ton. All that for a first and a huge deal? No thank you.

Raise the floor in the secondary with a small deal or deals. Nail a secondary heavy draft in a good secondary class. Unleash a dynastic reign.

This isn’t at you brother, the overall idea of trading those two picks. There is no way a 2027 5th and a 6th should be considered. If this draft is as deep and talented as EVERYONE thinks then you are talking about an actual 5th 6th round graded player. You are talking about possibly a 3rd or 4th round graded player maybe higher…….it’s all projections of course….but the point is of all the drafts in the recent years…..2027 is not the year to not value the picks you have. Look at the 2026 draft, what did we keep hearing on the telecast? Teams are hesitant to give up 2027 draft picks.

Yea Dallas gave up a second in 2028 for JPJ. No one wants to lose picks for next years draft except for Houston I guess? Still not sure what I think about what they have up for Harrison Jr.

No way would i give up a 1st, 2nd or 3rd in next year’s draft.

Is next years draft considered deep?

I know it is projected to have elite top level prospects. But I haven’t gotten far enough or even. Close enough to know the depth for next year

Well that would be the dumbest move possible?

At corner? I think so. The style of free safety that I think we prefer? Probably not. But probably never will be.

To be fair though CB is going to be deep most years due to how CFB is played.

Yes. Just by the fact that i’ve been told you are going to hear a lot about teams having 30-45 or more first round grades on players…….so it’s going to push guys down who should be in the 3rd and 4th rounds etc. Corner, like @CuriousHusker said should be but I doubt safety……they don’t want just safety they want a safety who covers ground quickly and whose processing speed is ELITE. They want Kerby damn it.

This guy is doubling down on his Wile E. Coyoyte “Genius” idea of trading Hutch for 2 older (and also high priced) players….

even though Baker has only 2 INTs in his past 50 games.
.
Baker is nearly 31 yo now…. and… well… we need guys that can cover. Here is part of an article that actually tries to “defend” him….

I like jamo as players , but not he’s smoking.. this is why I told you I will draft only players who spend their childhood in farms

I loved him as a prospect and his game translated. I don’t know how much he has in the tank now because I don’t follow him, but if he can start, I’m down, because I don’t think we are going to see BB and Kerby in any type of long term capacity. IF we get BB in that regard, I’ll be happy, but that means we need another dude. Abney and Clark rallied Sunday, but I’d take an upgrade as we go into the meat of the season.

$850,000 per game salary in 2026.

Even more in 2027.
No thanks.

No effing way!

I like him as a player and believe he would fit like a glove culture wise…but I don’t really like the fit in this defense haha.

The slot is the one position in the secondary that I feel good about. I’m hoping BB can play SS…the position Budda plays. If we play BB in the slot…it’s just not that big an impact. Bringing in someone who is a true centerfield type or an outside corner would improve the unit significantly more.

Branch is just gonna take Barnes job anyways, so let’s get another BB in here and give him the #8
