Caleb > Stroud

Williams can make throws that other guys cannot.

Stroud under Johnson would be better than Caleb under Johnson. IMO.

Absolutely, Stroud is much more disciplined and on time than Caleb, he’s tailor made for Ben’s system… He’s just not able to escape or make good decisions under pressure

I had this same thought. I think a lot of Stroud’s problem is that his OL fell apart, his WR’s are broken and he is trying too hard to go out and make something happen to win the game. What people don’t think about is that you can also do something to lose the game. Stroud tried to cosplay Josh Allen, when he is nowhere close to Josh Allen.

I think Stroud could become someone’s cheaper reclamation project, where he gets a team with a built OL and good WR’s but they need a ball distributor.

I would fear Stroud a lot more in Ben’s offense than Caleb.

They didn’t fall apart, they were dismantled… On paper they were the worst OL in football before the season started and they did not do anything to change that fact throughout the season. Winning 13 games in spite of that was a testament to the strength of that defense

Great case study on coaching and scheming. Stroud didn’t turn from promise to shit without something changing. Caleb has gone from questioned to impressive with major changes. I believe Stroud is a good qb being used in ways that do not maximize his talents. I believe Ben is using Caleb in ways that naturally play to his game. Does this make Ben a better coach? Maybe.

I want Ben and Caleb to fail. I hate the Bears.

I don’t care if CJ succeeds or fails because I don’t care about the Texans.

But there is something to be gleaned out of this.

No argument here.

Caleb, unfortunately for us, will morph into a legitimate NFL QB.

The Bears made the right decision to pass on Young and get Williams though.

Over the next 10 years I think Williams will have the significantly better career.

Young who?? What Young did the Bears pass on in favor of Caleb??

I think he means how the Bears traded the number 1 pick in 2023 to the Panthers so they could get Bryce Young, and then used the Panthers 2024 number 1 pick to get Caleb.

Oh ok I get it now…my apologies I stand corrected!

I agree that the Bears made the right call to pass on Young. I think that would have been a disaster in Chicago. However, I like the growth I am seeing in Young in Carolina, and I am not sure Williams will have a significantly better career.

Young has been through the wringer and has improved every year. Two years ago he looked like a wasted pick. Last year there was improvement, but not as bad. This year he is looking average. If he continues his growth pattern, he will be a good starting QB next year and have lived through a painful growing process.

Caleb started with a higher floor and had some flashes this year that made us take notice. I also think that Ben will do all he can to make the best situations for him. I am of the opinion that Caleb will be good, but not much more than that.

Stroud has played behind possibly THE WORST O-line ine in the NFL for the last 2 years.

Caleb had his O-line totally rebuilt with high dollar vets this offseason… which afforded him a top notch rushing offense.

Texans couldn’t get anything moving on the ground this weekend.

.

Does any of that factor in to this assessment???

Stroud isn’t Mahomes is all we’re seeing. They need to spend some resources on him. He looks a little shell shocked.

I never was a Mahomes fan.

I’m old enough to remember when Stroud was the best QB ever and the Lions should have traded up for him. Unfortunately at my age all the greatest QBs ever that the Lions should have drafted have started to run together and I can barely remember them. Did Stroud go to Liberty?

Caleb might be the worst on schedule QB in the league right now (starter). Until that changes, I am not too worried about the Chicago Bears. Their season might be the luckiest season in recent memory. A trash defense with a massive turnover margin and 7 wins under 2 minutes with a QB who can’t stay in the pocket.

The Bears will be the first place team most likely to finish last next season.
