Not yet. And probably not in 2025.
We need to see him perform vs. NFL starters that game plan for him and that new offense.
Luckily enough, heâs coming to Detroit Sept. 14. Nobody knows Benâs offense better than the Lions. I think he gets a wake up call, no matter what he does week 1.
Yes, we should be very concerned if opponents play their 2nd team defense against Da Bears 1st team offense.
That drive misses one of his incompletions, btw.
Hereâs his second drive:
3rd & 5 at CHI 29 (7:43 - 1st) (Shotgun) C.Williams pass short left to D.Moore pushed ob at CHI 39 for 10 yards (B.Codrington).
1st & 10 at CHI 39 (7:09 - 1st) C.Williams pass incomplete short left to D.Hankins.
2nd & 10 at CHI 39 (7:04 - 1st) C.Williams pass incomplete short left.
3rd & 5 at CHI 44 (6:59 - 1st) (Shotgun) C.Williams pass incomplete short left to R.Odunze.
Probably a little more game planning for Caleb in that game than the Bills were doing. Caleb looked great.
Kyle Allen is 21 for 25 with 4 touchdowns the last 2 games. Preseason just doesnât do it for me.
I donât put a lot of faith in preseason play at all. You just donât ever know how much game planning is going into it from both teams or what each team is trying to even do.
Though I am also not on agreement with the board that Caleb is a bad QB. We have seen him play well. He is also still very young and I think its too early to say what his career will look like. Its also a divisional game and our divisional games are always tough.
Same thing I just posted right after you. Preseason just is meaningless to me in what information I learn. Didnât we go 4-0 and then go 0-16?
And, the âHutch Ruleâ, wonât be in effect.
Not at all. Not that impressive.
Chicago had their 1s out there.
Buffalo had their 3/4s out there.
I mean, define concerned in this context.
Do I think Caleb could turn out to be very good, not to mention Ben and the Bears in general? For sure. In fact I expect it.
Does it concern me? No. There will always be good teams in the league, we just have to beat them.
he has a live arm.
he also didnât turn his head once from his #1 option.
all it is ,is to get our young rooks-some PT and to see how they are/have been, developing. however- it IS football -after a long ass off seasonâŚ
I donât recall Buffalo playing any starters in this game.
Itâs only preseason⌠But cherry picking one good drive and skipping the other is a classic internet strategy
Zero pressure - he had all day in each of those throws
It also seemed like he had some sloppy footwork on a few of those throwsâŚ
Regardless, this drive doesnt say much of anything either way. I do believe he can be good, so far he hasnt shown that he will.
I already had a post on this before, but I will keep this simple. All preseason, and during the game, weâve heard Ben Johnson say that the standard he is holding Caleb to is 70% passing. Caleb finished the game 6/10, for 60%. So based on Benâs own metric, it wasnât a good game. Now factor in that it was against Buffaloâs 3rd stringers who werenât exactly hustling.
Everyone can look great when things are going well. Weâve all seen games where an offense marches down the field and scores an opening TD. How about that second drive?
Once he gets an earful from Ben for some bone-headed play, he will start to shut down their ânoiseâ and make up his own plays. Leading to certain disaster.
The Bears defense is their calling card and thatâs what they will ride this year as Caleb and the offense work through 1st year issues. Dennis Allen and that defense are no joke. Allen might be below expectations as a Head Coach, but heâs a good defensive coordinator and they have a lot of talent on that side of the ball.
Their defense is far more âconcerningâ than their offense at this point in time. With that said, F the Bears and we should whoop that ass on September 14th like Bols at a Granny reunion.
Granny reunion? How â â â â â â â old are they now then? ![]()
