Isnt Firkster more of a blocking TE rather than pass catcher? We need to replace some of SLP targets. If not Ertz, maybe DPJ can line up as TE?

Team is dismal especially before Murray came back which is when Ertz played for the most part so I wouldn’t read too much into it.
This is a no brainer if Ertz is willing but the Lions have a tendency to like their own guys so I’m not holding my breath. They turned down Suh apparently, for starters, but that could be a turd issue.

I like Ertz too but I think I like the idea of the NFL being forced to announce #70 Eligible repeatedly on national TV even more

This thing is getting momentum. Wonder if we’ll see it.
It’s really hard for me to see Ertz being ready to run route trees and learn our offense in 6-7 days and that’s if we signed him tonite
He doesn’t have to be in every play.
They could work him in slowly… because he hasn’t played in 11 weeks. Heck… maybe even see if he’ll sign on PS for this week and shoot for 2nd round.

DPJ would immediately be our best blocking TE.
I think Mitchell will prove to be a solid pass catcher. I am worried a bit about him in the run game though
If the Lions don’t add Ertz. I think we see more personal groupings with Montgomery and Gibbs on the field at the same time
I think Mitchell will be fine and even surprise some folks if he gets a few targets. It would be nice to get Wright back it seems like he has been day to day for the last 2 weeks. If Wright isn’t back we will see a lot more of Cabinda
& more jumbo. 70 @ TE
Sam is great but a lot of his passing production is being schemed wide open and any tight end with a pulse can give you that production.

I would love ( and have always dreamt of the 6 OL set being the Lions’ “patented move”.) Ideally with a veteran swing tackle with a little more prowess that Skipper. Tyron Smith is a free agent!!
