Cam Jordan

This is the cheap, all-in move, especially if Carr’s injury is bad.

He’s supposed to be a great dude and obviously Dan and AG know him really well. We’re a great spot to chase a ring. We can easily move on from him next year. He likely won’t cost more than a day 3 pick. And he’s just what we need.

His contract would be easy to take on for 2024, and they might even be able to keep him in 2025 and use a void year to split up his $12.5 million base salary between 2025 and 2026.

I see his snaps are down this year.

Looks like he had offseason ankle surgery…
and the Saints are happy with Granderson and Young.

I think you might be on to something here.

I was thinking about Cam Jordan too while I was hanging out with some friends watching the game.
During the game Chase Young had a nice sack, and one of my buddies said “Why did he end up on the Saints?” A little later Mahomes had a scramble and you CLEARLY see Chase Young just go full stroll mode as Mahomes goes by. I said “and that’s why 2 teams gave up on him already.”

Yeah Young was never an options for us with his hit or miss effort, but Jordan is different. He’s just coming back from injury right now.

Last year he started all 17 games and had a career low in sacks with 2…and none this year. So 2 sacks in his last 22 games…at 35 years old not sure he’s got anything left.

I noticed Young jogging as well.

He won’t pile up the stats or pressures like he used to, but he’s still as stout against the run as he ever was which is the way onto the field for us.

And playing across from Hutch will free him up. He’s been the opposing team’s focus for years now. He might be reinvigorated as well, chasing after a title. I wouldn’t be shocked at all by a 8-10 sack pace with us.

I agree completely. I remember being among the disappointed when Young went to SF for a 3rd round pick, when we clearly had a need. When I saw Young play in the NFCCG, it made all the sense in the world.

I would definitely ask about Cam Jordan. I am not sure the Saints would trade him, knowing they have to trust the defense to Chase Young. Hey, I would even ask about Granderson too.

For a 7th rounder I’d consider it. Nothing more though IMO.

He’d cost more than that, maybe a 5th.

Why? I think they would let Cam decide tbh.

Yeah he would be much more difficult to pry away from them. And more expensive too. Not generally the sort of move Brad likes to make.

Not sure I agree. Maybe if they’re willing to take it in 2026.

I don’t think he’ll have tons of suitors. We’re just a great fit.

I suppose it depends how their season goes, but he just feels like he’ll cost more than a 7th. Then again it’s day 3 stuff, so who knows? I misjudge it all the time.

'25 6th. Maybe conditional

I don’t know the Saints well, but he has been such a mainstay with them, and they may want to hold on to an older franchise guy who still hustles for the leadership he brings. If Jordan wants to ring chase though, then yep I definitely think the Saints would look our way and accomodate him.

I’d like this move but it’s definitely one on the margins. Barely affects our championship odds but also doesn’t impact future plans. Probably the type of deal I lean towards.

I brought up Davis as well in another thread. Used to be a do it all LBer. Can he at 35 handle the Barnes role or complete the committee.

I think Cam is a good fit at Big End because of his familiarity with the scheme, the way he sets the Edge and plays run, the way he crushes the pocket and his locker room leadership.
But I believe his 8-10 sack days are in the past.
You think Houston has lost something coming off injury, try doing so at 35 after at +13 years in the NFL.
Cam is a rotational player at best at this stage of his career.
He is also more interested in his off field activities right now.
I’d inquire but wouldn’t give up much.

I like the idea but I the NFCS is still one of the worst divisions in football…I can’t see Saints giving up on the season like that.

Especially with Dennis Allen job likely on the line this season.
